Default PS belt deflection?

C5 Z06 - anyone know what the belt deflection should be, and where to measure it?

Belt seems to be slipping - only when hot coming off the track.
slight continual screech when wheels straight, gets much louder when turning wheels.

No screech before taking 20 mins on track.

Pump does not seem to be whining or grinding.

If you are running a stock tensioner there is no measurement.

I bet your pump is failing.

It's not a stock tensioner. If it was, I would have looked at that first.

Coolant temp coming off the track around 195, can't guess at general temps in the pump/belt area.

The pump was my first thought, and foolishly didn't spend any time trying to diagnose the problem when it was hot coming off the track.

After sitting for an hour, coolant temp around 170, all is quiet.

There is no pump kickback, steering feels normal whether it's cool, or coming off the track with the screech.

I could put a bit more tension on the belt, but don't want to stress the PS or WP pulleys.
The outside of the belt is a bit shiny, which can be from slipping.

So I was hoping somebody might have a guideline for belt deflection so I can can eval this condition.

I don't want to replace the pump if it isn't necessary.

WAG on the longest run of belt I'd set it for about 1/2 inch if you press on it, but really I'd call one of those guys that sell the upgrade tensioner and ask them. I think they all get shiny on the smooth side.

I am really liking the gatorbacks I put on, what a stout belt.

:leaving

Are you running full syn ps fluid? I use redline d4atf.

I have a Kateck and there is a hole in it for a torque wrench.
you set it to 25 ftlbs and tighten it there.

Between the two of you, that's the info I need. It's an aftermarket pulley, don't know if it's Katech or not. Will look for tension bolt, and check deflection tomorrow.

Running the Redline PS fluid.

I like the gatorback belts too. May change it out. Will have to pull it to get the length.

Thanks...

Great pic, thanks.
I'll check the torque on the current belt.
I like the labeling - good for the normal CRS situation.
