Raybestos Brake pads
I'm just barely fast enough at the track that the Hawk ceramic pads aren't cutting it anymore.
Need a good source for the best price on Raybestos track pads.
Am looking at the 41 and 43 combo...if any are running these pads can you suggest the best front/rear combo too please.

Ps
I know that most people use Carbotech XP10's and 12's and that they cost a bit less, but I think that the Raybestos may cost less to run because they wear longer and are more rotor friendly.

Good question. I would also like to hear what would be a good combo. I have ST43s in the front right now, paired with leftover Carbotech XP10s (used to run XP12/XP10 combo). Price-wise, the ST43 is really not much more ($235 at LIPracing, vs. $233 for XP12s minus forum discount), and I find the ST43's to be equally good at modulation, stopping power, and friendliness towards rotors, and early indications seem to also suggest they are wearing longer.

I run ST43s with Wilwood calipers so the pads are much thicker, so it isn't a direct comparison but I find that they take a lot of heat to function. Other people are stock calipers haven't mentioned any issue so it might not be an issue for you.

I don't know why people think the Raybestos are more expensive than Carbotechs, they're cheaper. I've had the XP10/8 combo and now run the ST43 front and rear. Just ran a weekend with them and I'm in love. They have so much more initial bite that it noticeably shortened my pedal travel. I got my Raybestos from Porterfield of all places. They're over $100/set cheaper than anywhere else on my C5Z, I think I paid about $390 shipped front and rear. Carbo's are just over $400 before shipping. The ST43 work well when cold, and come alive after one good hard stab of the brakes. Those with the spindle ducts are a decent upgrade over the XP10/8 with no ducting. I will concede that the 10/8 have better modulation, but I think I'll get used to that with a few more weekends. Day 1 was a total bust for me (no evaluators to sign me off to 3 and all the 1 drivers were especially awful this time) so all my learning/feeling out was today (after my check ride).

Topbrakes.com has ST41 and ST43 for $278 front and $227 rear.
Porterfield's website doesn't seem to be cooperating with my browsers right now so I can't search for their price.
I just submitted a query to raceshopper.com for their prices as well. I find that they usually have the best prices on Hawk DTC60 when I'm looking for them.

I just figured out that TopBrakes = BestBrakes = Raceshopper so they are all the same price.
Looks like LPI Racing has all ST4x compounds $209 front and $169 rear for C5s.

Ask Monty w/ LPI Racing
President of LPI Racing, Monty Anderson knows how to recommend from personal experience. Ask him. 5 years back he sold me my first set of ST43's and I haven't had to look past these ever since. Monty is real honest and knows vettes. His C5 is well decked out for the track. Monty always has the time to give me the advice I need. I highly recommend anyone with our car to call him.

I called Monty two days ago on my way home from work to discuss the Raybestos pads. After chatting for 20 minutes or so I ordered a set of ST43s. He said he didn't have them in stock but would get some very soon. The next morning I got an email that they had shipped. Nice guy and great customer service. I can't wait to try them out in a couple of weeks. I've already sent a couple of buddies to him to order pads for their track cars as well.

Neither am I, the 43s are quite a strong pad indeed. Here's a thread I recently made when I was asking about the 45s when the 43s were briefly on backorder.
