Default Autocross slicks

I corded my Hoosier A6's at the end of last season so it's time to start thinking about a new set. I use 275/40-17's on my '87.

When do the new batches of A6 tires start to appear? It looks like the Tire Rack has the A6 size I need in stock, but how would I know how old they are?

Also, anyone have experience with the Hankook Ventus Z214 in the C71 autocross compound?? Especially with regard to tire life!

Early-mid Feb is what I have heard also. You could try calling and asking what the date codes would be. I'm not sure if they would be willing to do that, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Maybe Luke will respond when the fresh tires come in.

How many runs do you get out of those Hoosiers?

Thinking back, I used them for two seasons with 6 or 7 events each season. Each event was 6 to maybe 7 runs and the course length at the events was nearly a mile. Most all of the events were at a local airfield's abandoned runway and outside of the ends of the runway, there were few hard/sharp turns.

The tires were flipped twice and rotated front to back every other event.

Sounds about right. Flipping and rotating gets a bit more life. On my C5z I generally get about 60 runs and then they go off pretty quickly. Just my experience, but after 60 or so runs they really start to go south in hurry.

I noticed that too. But at the end of last season I had just finished a rear suspension upgrade to Banski stuff and that probably helped to shorten their life.

Anybody have experience with the Hankook slicks??

Sounds like I might get a max of a season out of them. Thanks.

A couple folks in my local area like the Kumho V710's as well. Last longer than the Hoosiers.

Someday I'll jump to R-comps. Sigh...

If you're looking to try some you can watch for sales on discontinued tires. I got my first set of R-comps when Hoosier discontinued the A5. It was something ridiculous like $90 a tire.

Thanks, cost IS the biggiest set back. I just cannot justify it. That and I know once I go to R-comps its like crack, no going back.
