C4 guys...rotors and pads

Melting Slicks
I've got the front C5 upgrade on mine so I use Raybestos ST47 pads and the cheapest used rotors I find on Craigslist! For the rears, I'm using SBS race compound pads(I got these ultra cheap from Baer, when they closed out this product line!)

stock rotors, Hawk Blues, braided lines, and good brake fluid with brake ducts. And its a dedicated race car!!
I'm more than likely going to have a problem with my stock calipers than anything else. Had one seize last year. Their only 90 bucks and change them in an hour.
Never over engineer your car. It costs a lot of money and sometimes its just not necessary. OEM Corvette rotors are great.

I cracked a rotor at Sebring once. The rotor didn't explode - just cracked. It was aftermarket. I've been using Wilwood 2-piece rotors since that time.
Rear don't seem to be a problem. Then again I might need more rear brake.

Burning Brakes
C5 rotors are quite a bit heavier. you can dump some of that weight and improve heat dissipation with a 2 piece. they are spendy initially but last a lot longer than stock, returning a lot of that cost. Also be sure not to park the car with screaming hot brakes, the rotor cools except the area in the pads.

Whatever you do DON'T run the stock pads
no bite at all
For the street I used PF Z-rated
I ran Hawk pads with the stock setup at the autocrosses this year with good results. You can't run these on the streets
Pads are easy enough to change.
I run separate pads for the street and the track
He's what happens to pads after 1 weekend at a track

Adam- For my '87 I use Hoosier A6's for autocross and for track days, I currently run Nitto NT05's. The car has a C5 front brake upgrade with stock style rotors (Raybestos Advanced Technology). Fluid is ATE Super Blue. Current pads are stock C5 Z06 in front and Hawk HP+ in the rear. Also have a DRM bias spring in the M/C. The car does see very limited street use, mostly to a gas station, quick errands, or test drives after working on it. Because of the 4+3 tranny and OD that doesn't like being "abused", the car usually doesn't see track speeds much over 130.

A few years ago I stocked up on some Raybestos red label disks. My last pair is going to be replaced sometime this year. Best thing is they never did anything worse than heat check.
I'll probably try the cheapest rotors I can find to replace them. Unless I can find the funds to step up to big brakes and 2pc rotors.
I've used everything from the old bobcat to XP12 on the fronts. As well as several other different brands of pads. For my braking style I love the Carbotech - even put XP8 on all four corners of my daily driven Camaro. OK, its seens more than a few laps on racetracks.
For street the PFC-Z, HP+, or the carbotech street pads (I can never remember the number) will work.

For autox you're OK
but for track days at least get some brake ducts on, otherwise you're going to boil them.
When's last time the fluid was changed? not bleed, changed

I use stock rotors & Performance Friction Z pads with a LIFETIME warranty! I've shoved that up Pepboys a$$ at least 7 or 8 times now.
