Default Question on Tire Sizes

Looking ahead to 2013 season with NASA and 10/10ths and am needing some others input on tire sizes. Will be running 17" on all four corners with CCW rims. My question is this, 295 fronts with 315 rears or 315 fronts with 335 rears. Does the extra width help that much?

What class? What power level? What suspension mods? Which tracks? DE, W2W, or TT?

We have put down some amazing times on 275s, 255s, and 245s.

Right now doing just TT at Mid-Ohio, Putnam, Road America, in TTS class with NASA Mid-West / Great Lakes. I have full aero pkg making about 380 hp at wheels.

Then my recommendation is the smaller set. Keep the unsprung weight down and let the aero work for you.

Yeah I'm with Kevin. The 275's give you a .4 adj too if you can make that much power or get it that light.

If you run 315's and 335's, just make sure you have a proper sized wheel for them. A 10" wheel is not a proper sized wheel and an 11" for a 335 isn't either.

I'm not there yet but for what it's worth, when I start TT'ing I will start with 275 square and work my way down as my driving skill improves. I believe the consensus is to use your driving ability and take advantage of both the weight savings and point advantages of the smaller tires, as the guys have mentioned above.

Also, while I may not know jack the three above me that chimed in will get you on the fast track as quickly as anyone...take their advice to heart.
