Default Rick Hendrick Donates $100,000 To Corvette Museum's Motorsports Park

The Hendrick Auto Group Donated $100,000 to the National Corvette Museum's Motorsports Park project.

http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2012/...orsports-park/

We are extremely excited to support the museum, and especially if it gives us an opportunity to take these wonderful cars around a track!!

The Motorsports Park is underway, now all you need is a Corvette to take to the park. We'll be more than happy to help in that department as well!!!

Check out our HUGE selection of Corvettes online or in Person!!

Now that's what I call a DONATION! Especially with the somewhat slack returns in the NASCAR business nowadays. Kudos many times over!

This track has been rumored forever. I don't see any way that it will ever become a reality, especially since they're already $10M in debt and they haven't even drawn up the submittals. And the 'sound engineer study' thing sounds like AMP all over again.

That is not correct, I think you misunderstood the blog. The NCM is looking for $750,000. per year in corporate sponsorships (read GM, etc.) in order to service $10M in "new debt" that they will incur to build the motorsports park.

It will be built, and the momentum is building.

The NCM has many friends, some very well-heeled! Considering what the museum has accomplished over the years and how the crew always manages to raise mega-bucks for their projects, I would expect it to be built in short order. I wouldn't be too quick to throw the organization in with some of the failures that have occurred in other areas of the country. As a matter of fact, with other start ups not seeing completion, I would think the museum's track would have even more appeal to track day promoters. A new track is always fun.

Yeah I obviously read that wrong and I hope that I'm wrong on every count.
It would be great to have the track up and running soon, but I swear this thing has been in the works for years now??

It took time to get the money to purchase the first 184 acres. That's done and the NCM has just awarded the design work. IF everything goes right, the track will be open by September of 2014.

This website shows the timeline for completion. Here's the main website

I sure hope so. A track < 2 hours from home would be fan-freaking-tastic.

The NCM is something like 5-6 days for me if I tow....

But here in WA, there are 5 road courses I can get to in anywhere from 40 minutes to 5 hours. And Thunderhill is an easy overnight trip.
