SCCA Runoffs T-1
Small field of ten cars. Practice days are done, with Buttermore the fastest.
1 Viper, 1 mustang, 3 C6 corvettes and 5 T-1 corvettes.
Olli and Tim Hund had engine issues, but are being fixed.
I have been wandering around lost on the track trying to stay out of everyones way, and tomorrow it rains.
Stand by for official qualifying that starts Tuesday.

The last couple of years the Runoffs has been televised online via speedcast.com. Not sure about this year . . . but this year will be the first chance I get to attend Runoffs since the move to Road America from Mid-Ohio!

"I'm not gonna run my Mustang in T1 because it won't be competitive."
"T1 Vettes need to lose 50 rwhp and 80rwhp to be competitive with the faster T2 cars."
Hmmm....
Sloe ran the same time as test day, Buttermore went a bit quicker, and AJ, in his first race weekend ever at the track with this car, continues to make improvements and picked up decent chunk.
A number of us have said for two years that the Boss would be competitive in T1- come and race. There you go. Look at the times. Certainly a worthy first outing, wouldn't you say?
Or how about the notion that C5 and C6 Vettes need to be choked down to 350 rwhp to run with a Mustang, in spite of what all of the racers that have actually run all of the cars have said.
No more assumptions- black and white times. Let's continue to see how times and race progress all week, and if things stay consistent, see what the CRB and AC does. My guess is that the bruised egos of the collective brain trust won't do $#!t.

All I can say right now is for AJ running that mustang at runoffs and showing the CRB what it is capable of with today's rules! I personally think that qual time says it all. Give them equal size tires to the vettes and let's race! It's simple, leave the rules alone and T1 will grow especially now that all the mustang guys will see what they can do in T1. Choke us down and it will crumble. Just like we've been saying for the past 6 months.

So much for all the clowns like Meade and the Fall Line guys ( oh we have tested and the aero hurts the Mustang at Road America blah blah ) talking about how only the "mid pack and back marker" guys are slower and how none of our cars are developed and that is the problem, blah blah blah. AJ just went faster than Sloe under the same conditions and I believe ever. He is faster than Hienricy in a C5 at Road America and is less than 1 second off of a C6 with Buttermore in it!! Sorry but that car will get even faster as the months go by and development follows. So much for this rules change being needed ie. slowing all the Vettes.
We have been beating this drum since day one, bring it in, let us all race and equalize if needed. But no, they play these games with computer sims and modeling and it means little to nothing in the real world. This is further proof that if SCCA continues forward with restrictions that stem from nothing real world, the sinking ship should be allowed to sink.

What kind of Mustang is this? Any pics? I assume some variant of the new Boss?
If SCCA is slowing down the new T1 to T2 levels wouldn't the Mustang have to be slowed down too?
I haven't followed the latest SCCA drama other than they're making T1 slow down overall.

I just heard from Joe. A and Oli who attended the CRB Town Hall meeting at the Runoffs.
Apparently the CRB said they have a new proposal to take weight from the T1 C6 and slow down STO to make it the new T1. C5s can follow C6 or go to T2.
They have set-up another meeting with the CRB for sometime this week to hear more about it. I will update when I hear more...
Maybe someone FINALLY started to listen? Doubtful, but maybe...

AJ in the Mustang at 2:22.0 now!
OMG let me go run and get a 60mm restrictor plate and 180lbs of lead because no T1 C5 has ever gone that fast but they can because non of them are developed to the fullest extent of the rules........ ( tongue firmly planted in cheek )

Actually in order to be that fast at Road America in a production based touring car you have to be a GREAT driver in a FAST car, so in case you are implying that I don't think AJ is, that is wrong. I'm actually glad AJ is not holding back because the faster it goes the more pie is on the face of people who say the car would not be competitive without slowing everyone else down.
