There are several forum vendors that sell salvaged vette parts at reasonable prices. No way I would pay $1700 for the lines and 15 hours is crazy. Try Corvette Recycling, I have several friends that have purchased parts from them and are very satisfied. That mechanic is either trying to get rich or does not want to do the job.

2006 z06. already made a bunch of calls. Seems that a piece of double flared tubing with connectors would be the way to go. the location of the leak is right at a 90 degree bend where left and right rear split off it looks burnt maybe from exhaust or diff heat

Now Chevy corvette tech says he'll do cut and flare tube repair! If I didn't bring it up he wasn't offering to do that. He said no warranties no liability from them. I called around and a lot race shops have done this on their cars and then beat the snot out of them w/o an issue. we'll see what happens. I wasted like an hr and a half calling around and getting info on this

I would not let a shop that tried to rip me off!!! work on my car again. Check around and find another shop. What price did he quote for this?? check around?? Good luck!! Glad to here that it can be done that way. Steve

He's one of the best vette techs around, doesn't always recc easiest fix. He won't mess up my car on purpose. They quoted $1770 in parts and 15 hrs labor! So over $3000. I said whoa let me make some calls. Brent at perf tech said they'd just do a double flare w/ connectors. 2-3 hrs

That's why I would get a price from them before you have him do the work?? Brett's quote is about right. And that is what we talked about. That fix will work just fine. Make sure the vette tech has done it before?? and the price is right or have Brett do it. Just My .02 JD

Just an idea. If you are going through the trouble of re-pluming the entire brake system hard lines and also willing to spend that kind of money have custom lines bent with stainless tube and AN-3 fittings and single 37* flares. It will make things easier if you ever need to make repairs. That is all common race car stuff, top quality, and easily sourced. I've done it before and while it is labor intensive to do it right the end result is much better than dealing with lower quality factory plumbing. The only possibly harder to find fittings will be the ones that screw into your existing factory components like your master cylinder and abs/distribution block.

Dude...you can get brake line for 20$ and do it yourself. It's so easy. I've broke the same line, but the one above the diff case to the rear caliper. Just rip it out and bend your own. Simple.

Here is the skinny on what happend. Even though chevy said they would do the splice when I went the next day the tech refused to do it saying he thought that that route of repair was unsafe despite me telling him Perf Tech does it all the time and then beats the snot out of the brakes w/o problems. So I moved car to SS performance who said they do it frequently.
a while back motor mounts went and while they were going bad the angle of the rear exhaust was changed and the exhaust was a lot close to brake lines than original. Exhaust is B &B with headers. The brake fluid, when it leaked caused a small fire, the fuel lines are just above and would've went up in flames as well as the whole car! I didn't know brake fluid was flammable. They moved brake lines away from exhaust and wrapped exhaust pipes with insulation. SRF added and bled. they're billing for 7 hrs.
I had no idea how to do this myself so I had to pay. REsult: car is braking well, holds pressure on 10 repeated track like stops. I saw the repair from under the car looked great, no codes
