Default Whats the general ruling on car body damage for HPDE tech?

Asking this question because I have a TrackDaze event this June 9th at VIR and my Car was just backed into The damage is on the left front fender by the head light and it has a crack in the fiberglass about 4" long but the fender seems to be secured firmly.

Thanks Kurt

Can't say for trackdaze but when you come thru my tech line (SCCA), the sheet says "Body panels shall be securely mounted." so, I'd say your good.

If something happens on the track:

10.6. LOSS OF BODYWORK
All major body components such as front and rear hoods, fenders, doors, and windscreens shall be maintained in normal position
throughout the competition. If loss of bodywork is a safety hazard, the car may be black-flagged. A car completing a competition with
bodywork missing may be penalized.

Just got a chance to get a good look at it. I was stuck in behind the desk at work. It looks like the head light mounts are some what loose but it want come out.I think I'll just put a Pirate eye patch on her
Let me know what you think because it's a 300 mile trip to my VIR HPDE event.
I'm off work next week and plan on doing the best I can to get this takin care of. I really don't want to cancel my HPDE event

Had a yellow mustang that a deer tried to mate with it.
Yellow racers tape to hold the hanging pieces on and make the fender look "normal". Passed HPDE/TT tech for two years that way. I'd change the tape every couple months. Was a lot cheaper than replacing the fender and having it painted.

If you came thru my tech line, I'd pass it even without the tape. But some red duct tape won't hurt.
This crack is not a big deal.

Sounds like a go to me
This never would of happened if I'd stuck to my usual plan and not drive my DD the week before a HPDE. But I'd just put on new brake pads last friday and wanted to brake them in.

The fender is about $2000. The headlamp assembly is about $1000. I forgot how much the fascia costs....
See YA at the event!

That's nothing. Gorilla tape is wonderful for body panel repairs on these cars. If you want to look pretty then use the Gorilla stuff for the meat of the job, then cover with color matching "racers" tape

You can even put that stupid blue tape that so many track cars use.

Default What a Coincidence!

A week before my Memorial Day Weekend event at VIR, a Day Care van drove into my car in the grocery store parking lot and took out the same corner.

Thanks for the tape tips guys.
So painters tape is good for HPDE1.
Duct tape is good for HPDE2/3.
Gorilla Tape and decals is for HPDE4 and above

P.S. Does the tape help with down force? Just asking I don't have a front nose spliter like those Z06's.LOL

Tape is NOT much good for down force but will probably add at least 15 HP

Depends on how you layer it. Top to bottom layering for downforce and bottom to top layering for aero.
