Default Brake pads -- Size matters!

Another forum member asked me about brakes so I thought I'd share this pic of a stock Z06 padlet vs one type of race pad I run.

The stock padlets are roughly 13mm including the backing plate, the race pads I run are roughly 26mm and the endurance pads are 32mm (over one inch thick).

Holy Keerap!!!! Those suckers are thick!!!

It sorta looks like a one-piece for a stock C6 Z06/GS caliper, but that thing won't fit in any stock caliper, will it??

What compound are they?

I was looking at the front brake pads and calipers on the ASA cars running Road Atlanta at last years "MITTY", and did indeed see pads at least one inch (1") thick, in AP calipers I believe

Ha, nope, will not fit into the a stock caliper, it would be worse than prom night.

I run different compounds depending on where I'm at. Hawk, Pagid or PFC.

Yes, AP also makes a great caliper that accepts such widths.

When brand new, it's a very short brake pedal. They do last a very long time, not quite all season, and you can stand on them for hours with no fade.

I guess we'll see just how those big pads work at RA Turn 5 in just a few weeks, won't we!
