Default Installing MXL Strada in C5

For right now I just want to get rid of the old cluster and will work my way into getting all the Data Acquisition I need later on.

Id like for this Cluster to give me the same basic functions as the OEM cluster as I plan to retain the DIC by disassembling the cluster into the parts I need to keep.

I know the C5 is not CAN-Bus and it is not direct plug and play. Why cant I tap into the VSS wire, Oil pressure, RPM, water temp? just those will suffice. I read a member stating that tapping into the wires does funky things to the ECU?

Im just looking for more insight, pictures of some Racing dashes in C5's would be nice too Seems all the threads I could find were past the 45 day rule.

I tap into rpm, steering angle, oil pressure brake pressure and rpm. Works fine.
You may have trouble getting a reliable fuel level.

Why steering angle? Or Data Acq.? And fuel level will be troublesome? Why so?

fuel level is tough b/c of the dual tanks and the processing that the computer does.

I grab steering angle and brake press for steering angle

So I guess it not as simple as tapping the wire that goes l to the gauge huh? How are you getting by?

AU N EGL- what about you? You seem to have a pretty stout setup. I'd be surprised if you had an OEM cluster.

David Farmer- I saw you modified C5( almost like a vert), any chance you had something like this?

I grab signals straight from the sensors - I think the fuel is the only item that gets "processed" in that there isn't an analog output that spits out the answer. You could pull from each fuel tank sensor and do your own processing.
