Retired Professional Racers
It seems to me that the forum would be smart to establish a panel or additional forum with a panel of retired professional racers who could share both stories, wisdom, and advice. I know of at least one that monitors this forum and occasionally comments. His name is Jim Painter, and for those who don't know it, he has raced just about every kind of car and track that exists. He has codriven with some of the most famous drivers in the last 40 years. I am certain there are others who are just like him, and we need to hear from and listen to them. They have been places most of us will only dream of. Surely there is a way of garnering their involvement in this, and we will be the better for it, if we can find a way to do this. Jerry

Not a good idea because of technology, speed and age. It would be best to get someone like the C6R drivers, Johnny O'Connel or Andy Pilgrim. The world and technology has passed us old guys by! Johnny and Andy are great guys and communicators.

But Jim, most of us don't have that latest technology. We are pretty much discovering the wheel on weekends. Don't ever feel like you can't teach me a bunch, a whole bunch! I will be glad to sit down and take in all that you offer.

Likewise Jim, would love to have opportunity to interact with any of the c6r guys, but lets not for a minute diminish what you have done, accomplished, and overcame. The biggest part of life is the overcoming. You have a ton to offer us. Jerry

Talk about change.... Lime Rock was "new" ?
Sort of funny for C4 guys.... Same motors & same stuff I would guess? Not all that much has changed just refined?

ok, here is one story. Fitzgerald, Newman, Harrison and I were talking and Fitzgerald said, " The older I get the faster I was!"
Now at 68 years old I know what he meant!

So do you guys know why endurance drivers look so good every time they get into a car? It is because they have a lot of driving suits and they change them once they get out of the car because so many drivers pee in the car on track during their stent and when the next driver gets in he is sitting on a wet (pee) seat! And, yes, it smells. Look at the holes in the seats to let water (translated: water = pee) out! I have a number of driving suits and they all have been dry cleaned! One of the Corvette drivers is famous for peeing in the seat and you know who it is Steve!

Lol, the one thing that younger people often forget though is that unless you are one of the lucky few that are born with godly skills, there is no substitute for the years of experience that people such as your self possess. I know that personally I'm trying to learn as much as possible and would love the chance to even get just a few laps in with someone with your experience instructing me. Hopefully at Track Attack I might be lucky enough for that to actually happen!

"There are old drivers and there are bold drivers, but there are no old, bold drivers"
Sir Sterling Moss recently got out of the Porsche RSK he was driving at a Lemans practice and said that he was retiring because "That car scared the hell out of me."
