Default DRM Moving day!!!

DRM on March 27th will be officially starting the transition to our new location.

DRM
412 Pacific Ave
Waverly, MN 55390

Due to the complex nature of the move. We will be working out of both locations for some of this spring. But the main operation will be running at our new location as of April 1st, 2012.
We have been working on keeping our current phone numbers, but it is not final. More information on the move coming soon.

Thank you
Randy Rippie

Congratulations
I hate moving! I've done it over 30 times in my life but it is always cool to get the new digs setup.
And remember, If you don't know what's in the box and you haven't opened it in over 3 months just throw it away without opening it! Great way to organize and downsize

Scrap totals as followed.

2400 pounds of steel
700 pounds of Aluminum
250 harness wire
7 computers
22 boxes of paperwork from the 90s

The kid and I have been working every Sunday since early January cleaning house. 4 piles were made;
Scrap
ebay
Doug's personal garage
keep

I knew the April 1st thing was going to come up This is not a joke at all. Have paint in my finger nails to prove it. Damn good wall paint was used, solvent hardly breaks it down.

Seems it would be easier to run a moving sales than transporting that stuff. Why don't you ship me 2 of the SKF racing hubs insteads transporting them?

Randy, you got the address wrong, right? We agreed you were moving your shop to Detroit.

I actually found a place that would be great for my office. Fort Myers Beach, there is some hard pack sand about 10 feet up from the water. I figured setup my office there. Get about 7 or 8 secretary's desks setup, I know the skin cancer could be a problem. Not to worry, I could rub lotion in every hour or so.

Couldn't get the boss man to approve.......

Pictures coming soon. I did say complex in my first post

The building that we are moving into is smaller then our current setup. It will be for the engine shop, fab shop and mail order dept. We bought the lot adjacent with plans to build on! This is the future site of the "car" shop and chassis dyno. Setup by us, for us, and without dealing with converting a building to fit our needs. Once phase 2 happens we will be a bit bigger then our current location. Please note we will be turning out mechanical work this spring out of the fab shop and some at the old place. Special arrangements have been made with the landlord (super nice guy) to make this whole deal happen.

Pros
Owned not leased
Easier to get to from the city
Spare lot to grow into
1/2 price taxes
Better separation of divisions within the company
Newer building

Cons
Moving
cost of setup

Got told a few days ago that I have been like a stranger around the forum. Above is just half of it, P&Z meetings, meeting with contractors, plumbers, getting into the local EDA and etc

Busy times
Randy

Good luck guys. My heart goes out to you Randy. Moving 20+ years of auto business & getting reorganized is 100 times more difficult than moving a homestead. I'm still setting up after 4 years. No more rent down the toilet!!

Eric,
I think we are ok without the fork lift. We have someone coming into to move our really heavy stuff. But thank you so much for offering that is way cool of you! It's not over yet, but I'm sure we will get it all done.

Thanks John, Moving a house is about a thousand times easier then this mess. But with hard work and a bit of planning it has been going pretty smooth.

Jim, Doug just needs a fire under his butt to get moving. He has been on fire for this week!!!

My Grandma (Doug's Mom) passed away last week, so we have been under some added pressure. To add to the fun, my little car popped a head gasket and my wife killed my cell phone. So it's been interesting!!!

Pictures are coming soon guys and the final drawings are coming soon of the finished project

Computer is getting turned off in 5 minutes and will be setup at the new place soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys
Randy
