Default Why I Hate Poly Bushings

This is what happens to an Energy Suspension bushing after two track days at Homestead.

On late Sunday afternoon I noticed the car was oversteering a little more than usual on exit. This is what I found on Monday. This is the 2nd time I've had a problem like this. This time was much worse than before.

Generally the Vette Brakes bushings are a better quality. Even those fail though. I'm thinking Delrin or aluminum. Then again I might just switch everything to heim joints.

Had VB&P polys in the old track day Z06 and Pfadts in the current Z06 race car. Never any issues with either.

I have to admit the Vette Brakes bushings are much harder than the Energy suspension. I've actualy checked them with a durometer. They're still poly though. Most of the time you won't see the problem unless you take everything apart. It begins in the bolt hole where it's not visible.

There's a reason most race cars use heim joints. They're not a good solution for the street though because dirt gets into the bearing surface.

I'm not a big fan of it either, especially in those parts that move in two axis. I pieced together heim link parts for mine. I drive mine on the street some and to events, no problems with the heims. Would like something better for the rack and bat wing.

Time to upgrade to Banski. I'm working on finishing my C4 track car and have the VB&P bushings on the same setup as you.

I've been talking with Danny at DJ Race. I'm thinking aluminum might be the way to go.

For what it is worth, we have been using Delrin bushings for 3 years now on our Grand Am and track day cars. No problems of any kind. We manufacture our ow out of the very best quality of delrin.

Call me if you need a set.

Energy Suspension has gotten back to me. They haven't really said anything yet - but at least they're aware of the problem

Vette Brakes still hasn't responded. That really surprises me. They're normally really good with customer service. We'll see what happens.
