Default 18/18 or 18/19 for base C6

I'm having a lot of trouble deciding what to go with for my C6. This is a street car that will see 6-8 track days a year and it will never see race tires. I would prefer to go with the 18/18 set up, but I don't think the tire choices are that great to keep the same stock diameters. I would probably end up with 255/40 and 285/40 with my only choices being continental DW, Advan sport, or azeni 615k. Would that be too much sidewall in the rear? Or should I just go with the stock sizes where I would have much more choices for an "extreme" summer tire? Any input is appreciated.

The primary reason people go with a square 18" setup on a C6 is to be able to run used race tires on the rear and to get a wider variety of sizes than 19" rims offer. I'm not aware of a standard set of replacement rims you can buy that are 18" front and rear. You can buy stock/replacement 18"/19" sets all day long for $1500. To get a matching set with 18" rears you would need to step up to CCW or another shop that will make them to order for $3k.

If you are never going to run race tires then get the 18"/19" combo.

Here's what 18" front and rear look on a C6.

If you're not going DOT-Rs (even on the low end, ie. Toyos) then stick with 18/19 and you'll have a way better selection. I've been running 18x10+18x11 275/35r18+305/35r18 Toyos and CCWs. But now that I'm looking at street tires there's pretty much nothing that works on the rear... closest I've seen is 275/35r18+275/40r18. So, yeah, if you're not doing R compounds, I'd stay 18/19... you could fit 18x10+19x11 and run C6Z 275/35r18+325/30r19. Give the guys at CCW a call...

Thanks for the input. I was hoping to drop a little weight with the 18's and I like how they look too, but i'll just got with some tsw 18/19 with stock sized tires.
