Default 3 ***** Racing Season Opener at Gingerman

Race season is almost here for those of us in the upper Midwest. 3 ***** Racing is hosting an open track event at Gingerman Raceway on Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15. Come spend your tax refund on tires and gas with us as we kick off the 2012 season.

We are going to run the new track configuration. Saturday will be clockwise and Sunday will be counter-clockwise. If you haven't run the new configuration, let alone backwards, this will be like driving two new tracks.

There will be 4 run groups separated by driver skill and vehicle prep. Our most experienced group will use open passing. Instructors will be available free of charge.

Cost for the event is $165/day or $280 for the weekend.

If you have questions about the event or 3 *****, please let me know. Otherwise, you can see all the details and sign up at the site: 3ballsracing.com.

Thanks
Ken

I forgot to mention that we will of course be camping at this event on Friday and Saturday nights. 3 ***** will be providing some liquid heat to keep everyone warm. Hope to see some of you there.

Thanks
Ken

Something's missing. Hopefully whatever belongs in that space comes in soon.

Removed alternator to get to PS pump. Side note: I never want to have to remove the rack or PS pump again.

AMEN BRUTHA!!

side-side note: you can remove the PS pump within it's bracket without having to remove the BMPV.

Does anyone have a good estimate how much top speed increased with the new layout? I was geared about perfect on the short track with a 4.56 gear and short tires (315-17), but I don't think that will cut it with the longer straight. I'm wondering if just using taller tires will be enough.

Calculated speeds at 6500 rpm are about 109 with 4.56 and 315's, and about 118 with 4.56 and 27.5x11-15. I wonn't say for sure that I was hitting 6500 rpm on the short track, I'm just using that as a reference point.

That's what I did. Definitely easier than trying to remove the pulley while it's in the car.

That's a good question. The best I can say is that the new section is all uphill. The turn coming onto the straight may be just a bit faster than the original. I would GUESS that another 9 MPH would probably be enough to cover it.

Actually, for gingerman maybe I'll bring the blue car.

If you're around this week, I'm working on Novi now. I'll give you a shout as I have the engine/trans/diff out right now and would like to get the 3.42 installed.

Hope to see you there.

That's going to make it hard for you to get an engine installed.

I was hoping you'd install it when you swing by to grab the diff. I'll have the neighbor let you in.

BTW if you seriously need it ASAP I can make arrangements. Gimme a call (between the hours of 8 pm and 12 noon Michigan time) if necessary.

I don't always use all the bolts because I know the General has extra ones in the design. So long as you're cool with that, I'll drop the engine in.

For any of you last minute guys, we have a number of spots open for Sunday. We will be running the new track layout counter-clockwise on Sunday.

Thanks
