Does this mean we all get free ZR1s now? You know... gotta spread that wealth around.
This picture sums it up nicely... Nobody wants a Volt...
PS - Obama still sucks

Fuel regs are (properly) fleetwide. If a mfg can sell enough efficient cars, it can spend its accumulated spare fuel economy allowance on absurd things like a ZR1.
It is up to a mfg to organize itself accordingly and is hardly the death knell for fast cars, especially cars like the C5/C6 that get relatively great mileage (i.e. better than many boring cars).

Separate issue, but I agree to the degree that we don't intentionally distort the market (subsidize the true price of fuel and costs of fuel usage).
On a grander scale, I think we should be looking at energy cost/usage costs over the life cycle of a vehicle.

I don't get it! During his presidency GM went from bankrupt to being #1 within three years. What's with the Obama bashing? He's just cleaning up the mess that Texan left behind.

Bush pushed off GM's inventible bankruptcy by 1-1.5 years. The real work began after he left office.
