sequential gearbox for ls7
Maybe someone can help me here: we are looking for a sequential gearbox (5/6 speed) for a vintage american race car, that can be mounted directly to an slightliy modified ls7 engine (Horsepower:630 / Ft. Lbs. Torque: 560). It should handle the torque of this engine and be suited for racing. As far as I know, the ls7 has a transaxle gearbox in the rear, but we need to have the gearbox mounted directly to the engine. Fortunately, the project is financially well funded, so the price is not a very important criteria here :-).
Which supplier has gearboxes for this application?
Any help would be great!

Lou Gigliotti put an EMCO in his C6 Z06 a few years ago. LG Motorsports should be able to get you everything you need to bolt it directly to the engine.

Thanks for Emco recommendation! The fotos are a little misleading, there is always the differential attached. LG motorsports advertises this gearbox for the C5, so it should really work attached to the engine and without the differential! Is the bellhousing from LS7 and LS1 identical?

C5s use a rear mounted transmission so you might not want to go the corvette route.
You might want to look into other gm vehicles like holden which use ls engines, and are raced quite a bit in australia...

We just put one in our race car (Emco) and raced it at Sebring with PBOC. We bought it from LG. The trans is remarkable to say the least and the learning curve is very short and easy to master. Last year I turned a 2:16 in the race and this year managed a 2:12 in the sprint race with major brake issues all weekend.

OS Giken OS88 box is cheaper than a Hollinger and some say better. Both are well over $20,000 .
Emco makes this sequential gerabox for C5 and C6. They are straight gearboxes because these cars don't have a transaxles. It would be easy to adapt it to a LS7 bellhousing.

Hey guys,
There are a number of boxes for the cars and also for other chassis.
As you have seen above we do offer an Emco box that plugs into the factory car's torque tube and will accept a C6 Z06/ZR1 diff units. For those using a C5, you would have to upgrade to one of the larger C6Z diff's which they have a number adapter kits for.
Couple reasons for this is the larger ring and pinion gear to take the hard shifts this trans is going to put out.
Also We do suggest a solid aluminum driveshaft and solid couplers, again due to the quick shifts of the trans.
Emco does offer other boxes, everything from Viper plug and play, to full blown transaxle units like what we have in the ALMS GT2 car.
Now the transaxle like you see above takes it's own axles, and cost goes up a bit. Your looking close to $69,000 for the transaxle unit itself, and $14,500 for the pair of axles so those are not cheap.
Pratt uses an Xtrac box, same principle but different operation and I do not know the costs, and I do not believe they make a plug and play unit.
The Hollinger is nice and we did use that as well in the World Challenge cars, replacement parts are not easy as they are 1/2 a world away. Emco is right here in the Midwest.

having worked on both a hollinger and an emco box, if it were me I would run an emco
like anthony said, the hollinger is nice, but the emco is trusted for 24 hours at a time at Daytona; the proof is in the results

What type of engine management system are you running?
Bosch? MoTec? Other?

The gearbox/axle setup is 70k. Thats a totally new C6Z....
The "fuse box" in that car, was 10k. Life racing PDM. You know that thing sliced bread? Yea, its better than that
The ECU in the car ( Bosch 4.4) was 25k.
The engine, chassis, and body harness was 50k.
You lose sight of the value of a dollar when racing. Every set of tires ( 6 sets per weekend) would buy you 2 LS6 crate engines
