Default Energy Suspension upper balljoint boot... smush it in there or trim it?

Taking apart my front suspension to swap front hubs and install delrin spring adjusters I found a tear in my LF upper balljoint boot. I had purchased a couple sets of the Energy Suspension polys (the ones marked for a C4) from when I tore the lower boot on my RR when I had to resort to using a pickle fork.

So tonight I mess with the upper and it turns out the poly is a good bit taller than OEM. The lower fits better and isn't an issue at all, but this looks off... C4 different?

Poly vs. OEM

Poly smushed in place... looks like it'll work fine. The only thing I see different is the movement of the balljoint through it's range of motion is a little harder, but I can't see that being an issue pulling 1.5gs in a 3100lb car...

Stock on the side I haven't touched yet...

I trimmed about 3/16 off of one of them and it didn't squish out as much, but it din't seal as well when you moved the balljoint around.

Anyone else use one of these on the upper? What'd you do?
