Very cool!

I've sent out invites, DEMANDS, to friends to make plans for September.

I can't imagine running a 3-hour professional race on the Grand Course, assuming they mean that course the Mazda club ran.

Hopefully, they'll run the 3.27 mile traditional course.

Looking at the track map in the press release, yep its the really long course with the "bitch". Same one I ran with trckdaze a couple years ago.
I'm with you - 3 hours on that course will wear you out!

I've been hoping for years they'd run VIR! I live 40 minutes from the track, so its practically in my backyard. I made the trip to Road Atlanta for Petit in 2010, if you've never seen them in person I highly recommend going! The ALMS prototypes are insanely fast, and the GT cars seem quicker than the Grand Am GT's. Oh, and the Vettes and Jags sound sweeeeet in real life!

Yes... I'm going for sure. Already sent the link to my father and marked off the date. I'm about 3.5 hours from VIR and he lives about an hour south in NC.

What's your favorite viewing spot at VIR? Maybe we could all meet up at some point during the day.

Honestly I've done way more driving at VIR than watching... not sure I really have a favorite, but some of the places to watch are:

1. The hill where you can see roller coaster and hogs pen leading onto the front straight.

2. The paddock grill area where you can see the front straight T1-T5.

3. The bridge area before the uphill esses where you can see T5 through south bend

4. Go out to the back paddock by oak tree and watch them come through south bend and then eventually down the back straight

I'm sure there will be a few others since they're running Grand Course... probably a way to get back to that tighter part of the course in there too.
