Default Giampiero Moretti dies

For all of you who have been sports car racing fans for the past 40 years, the name "MOMO" will mean something to you. MOMO founder Giampiero Moretti died Saturday.

Among many other things He was instrumental in bringing the Ferrari 333SP to life when IMSA needed a kick in the *** post GTP.

Well, I have mixed feelings about this. First, I am extremely sad for his family. Next, I am somewhat concerned, 'cause he was considerably younger than I am.

Indeed. But then he lived a good, fun, successful life and left his family with a thriving business and income.

Yeah. Older than I am but not by much. Sigh.

Very sad to hear the news. When I was a young report/photographer, covering the Del Mar Grand Prix, he was very kind to me, and to be invited to dinner at his transporter was a great honor. Truly a class man, and quality product.

Thanks, Zoxxo,

Those are great, great photos, accompanying very sad news. Another sports car legend is no longer with us. I also appreciate your sentiment regarding full lives, well spent - like that other gentleman standing beside Mr. Moretti.

I had not heard this, and thanks for posting.
