Default off topic, but I need some help with my WEBSITE

Going to either move or shut down davidfarmerstuff.com. My host is too expensive. I just need a place to host a handful of files, and the bandwidth needs are very low.

I know a few of you have offered to help in the past, but I was content where I was. I used to get away with keeping a lot of large files on the site (a backup of sorts), but I can't get away with it any more.

Sorry for OT, but if you have any suggestions let me know.

Thanks

btw, I may just use my Facebook page and post my files (the pdf torque specs etc) on a public Dropbox folder, but having an actual site is nice also.

As a related question - I've seen a lot of ads in trade mags for 1&1 hosting.
Anyone use them? Looks like about $50 for a year for a personal type web site including private domain registration - whatever that means.

At that price I was thinking about it.

David,

Give me a call tomorrow. A buddy/coworker runs a server farm and website hosting service on the side. I can walk by his desk every day if needed. I hosted the charity drive site with him a couple of years ago and he does some car sites as a hobby.

David,,,
Have you looked at a small business account with Yahoo? I have mine there, they do POP services (outlook email), domain name services as well as basic web hosting for $10.95 a month.

so I've started a Facebook business page, and will be linking all of my important files soon. I may still get a real website, but not sure it's necessary. All I need is a place to store data (dropbox), and a way for people to reach me (Facebook), and both are free.

Thanks for the suggestions

I'm using Netfirms...I don't think they will let me transfer to one of the cheaper plans they have now, but I'm looking into it.

I'm not sure I trust them after the SOPA debacle....not that I host illegal content. Looks like Dropbox and Facebook will be fine for me!
