SCCA Solo Reorg of Street Prepared
Can anyone explain to me in simple English what just happened to the Street Prepared classes?
Is my ASP 2004 Z06 in SSP now?
Are the C5 Coupes and FRCs in ASP now?
What about my c4 BSP pals? Still BSP?
Anyone know for sure?

All C5 and C6 chassis go to SSP.
All other Corvette chassis (C1-C4) go to BSP.
Looks like a BSP C4 is still good to go.

They did your C4 BSP buds a favor. The turbo AWD cars that have dominated the class, like the Evos and the STis, along with the turbo Sky/Solstice, are in the "new" ASP. Gives the BSP Corvettes a far better chance. Now those BSP Corvettes have to show up to make sure the class is subscribed.

Sold my C-3 so Mike might be the only C-3 next year. A properly set up Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky might now be the car to beat. Andy Hohl took second another took sixth. 1st Corvette took 17th.

There are some other cars, besides a C3 or C4, that may become competitive in the "new" BSP: E46 M3, 350Z, some variants of the Audi TT, S2000, perhaps Z4M. We'll see if anyone develops one of those (or uses Tunnell's M3 set-up from years ago). Should be interesting.

Next step up is street prepared. For your C5, it would be SSP. Basic philosophy is "bolt-ons".
Very briefly (and this may not be 100% correct as it has been many years since I've fielded a street prepared vehicle): engine short block remains stock. But intake/exhaust is free. Suspension pick-up points can't be changed, but shocks/springs/bushings/sway bars/wheel size is free. Update/backdate is allowed as long as the vehicle "line" (as in the rulebook) is maintained. The SCCA rulebook puts all the C5s on the same "line". Thus, you can mix and match anything from a C5 (FRC body, LS6 shortblock, etc.).
Next step(s) up would be SSM (street modified category) or XP (prepared category). In those classes things pretty open.
Easiest route and the one that will develop your driving skills the quickest is to run A-Stock. Then, if you decide you like the hobby and decide how serious you want to take it, then you can build a car specifically for a rule set. IMO.

BSP looks like a fun class for C4 Corvette fans again. I think that there will be some low hanging fruit in BSP nationally since the top competition was all AWD.

The rules aren't published yet, but SCCA does publish the proposed changes and what goes for approval through their monthly "Fastrack", which can be accessed through the SCCA website. And the SP re-org has been approved.

The time is here to get back at it for another shot in BSP. Now what else do I need to do this winter for the car. Oh, I need to learn to drive it again as its been sitting forever. Thanks SCCA for the changes
