Default Fun was had at Daytona over the weekend!!!

PBOC ran an event at Daytona over the weekend (Oct 21-23).

Friday was TT, racing, and Super Solo, and the DE was Sat and Sun.

I only was able to run on Sunday, but had a great time!!!

There were several forum members running, and maybe 12-15 Vettes. I got together with Larry (C6 Z06 on the Forum) and Royce (both C6 Z06 owners from Destin, FL area) for a nice dining experience Saturday evening.

John (Forum ID: ragtag74) stopped by in his beautiful NCRS (Not Correctly Restored Stingray) on Sunday. He was in town for the Daytona Dream Cruise and stopped by the track to check out the cars and yak with us track hounds. He got to wander all over the NASCAR garage area, the Fan Zone and took a bunch of pictures.

The video below has lousy sound (mute your audio!) and the tach input into my Traqmate is messed up, so disregard the RPM and gear indications. The speed is GPS generated by the Traqmate sensor unit, so it's accurate.

Look out for the spinning Lotus in the Bus Stop about 4:00 into the video!!:

That is my 2006 Z06, and I was running street tires this year (actually had a set of wheels off my ZR1 on it with the stock Michelin PS2 ZP tires - they're great, but I run 6 or 7 second faster laps when on Hoosiers).

There's another event at Daytona Nov 3-6 put on by Le Belle Macchine d'Italia. I think if registration doesn't fill up they may let some lowly Vettes attend the driving event. If you have a red driving suit with some Italian car patches on it you may be able to socialize a bit:

The best event still to come this fall will be the Audi/Hooked On Driving event Dec 2-4. It looks like the one-day option for just driving on Friday the 2nd is sold out, but you can still sign up for 2 days (Fri/Sat), or 3 days (Fri/Sat/Sun). Here's a link to the HOD site for info:

C'ya at the track!!!

Bob

No wonder Royce and Larry weren't at Roebling this weekend with PCA, I hope they had a good time, (I know that they did).

Looks like a great time. I can't wait for the December event. The high banks still look bumpy. I thought it was a lot smoother after the repaving....

Very smooth. Make sure you increase your tire pressures and reduce the negative camber. Many, many, many cars lost tires over the weekend, causing lots of damage.

Sorry I didn't mute the audio. I need to change pads and rotors now.

I will be doing 2 days in December with my 2000 FRC. Any suggestions to prepare would be good.

Not necassarily. Even if the car didn't hit a wall, the shredded tire damaged body panels.

The guy garaged next to me lost his entire right quarter panel when the tire blew; never hit anything, just tire induced carnage. 150+ MPH for an extended period of time changes things...

I sent my application to the Audi Club. I'll see you in just over a month.

The load on the sidewall from the high speed banks does it. Right rear is the one I cord

Yep. Run higher pressures to support the sidewall, but then the car handles poorly. You can drive a poorly handling car; a wrecked one is a bit harder to do so...

For anyone interested, here a link for info and to register with the Audi Club. I drove with them two years ago and had a great time.

I really really really was eyeing this event with NARRA all year but with NASA Nationals and a recent VIR trip, another track weekend and I would have been sleeping out in the shop cuddling a floor jack at night, which we all know sucks when you have a comfy bed with a woman in it 75 feet away

Guess what's right up the street from you November 4,5...the ARRC at Road Atlanta. Couldn't get any closer and cheaper than that!!!
