Default staggered front / rear tire sizes..your thoughts.

Im on the new side to autoX and road course type racing (for time).

Whats the consensus on staggered tire sizes?

For me, thats 275/40R17 v710's on the front and 315/35r17's v710's on '96 corvette grand sport rims.

Are they better for rookie drivers? (ie. do they make it less likely to swap-ends out there?)

This is on a heavily mod'd 93 vert 6spd btw.

Now..I do have an extra set of '96 corvette grand sport rims and Ive thought about throwing 315's on the front. Of course, then I have to revert to 275/40R17's on the street and that doesnt sound like fun.

I think the C4's really work well with a square setup. Having more tire in front always worked better for me. I am also a big fan of running the 18x10.5 Z06 wheels all around; much better tire availability and brake cooling.

Yeah . I've heard that. No kidding much better tire availability. Tire availabilty in 17" scares me...

C4, mod'd with cage and mod'd x-brace works great for me and my goals out there .

hey that looks like my car when it was a babby when were you at nelsons!!! a square set up is the only way to go fir a list of reasons...i run 315's on 11 inch zr1 knock offs....the best reason is u can rotate tires all around getting much more out of them... before i gor my set up right i would rotate them however to keep the good tires where i wanted them i even flipped them and ran them inside out to use them all up!! pm me and ill help you get your setup right!!!

I never ran with a staggered setup, but my car loved the square setup. It was easier to drive fast with 315s all around, but the car can be just as fast with a 275 square setup.

even with no front camber mine is fairly well balanced thru the turns if I run a couple pounds less air in the front.
Doesent seem to matter if its 275 or 315, but square is good.
