Default Use Oxygenated gas at HPDE?

? A co-worker of mine when I mentioned doing HPDE this fall replied that I should watch out for the oxygenated gas. He said the cross-over to the stuff is happening now.

So my question is: how much if any performance do I loose w/gas purchased in the next few weeks vs last summer? Would it be better to use 100 Oct gas at the track--would they still oxygenate that stuff???

Thanks

Andy

It can actually raise the effective octane (eth is usually added). All you EPA haters should recant.

I don't know about now, but in years past, sunoco's race gas was oxygenated.

So nothing to worry about from a seasonal composition change at the pump? No reason to incur an extra expense going to 100oct race gas vs the 93 commerially obtained gas as usual?

Personally I still think all this eth is a waste of resources and was done to help out the farmers and ADM (supermarket to the world).

Especially #12 & #19.

Not to get into the ethical & political issues, too much for this thread.

Does it matter since you aren't racing anyways and everybody else will be using the same thing????

Don't sweat the gas, work on compressing brake zones and carrying corner exit speed instead of point and shoot driving and you will be far ahead of many Corvette HPDE drivers.

Most important -- have fun, stay safe!
