We just came in from Biketoberfest activities here in Daytona this weekend and saw the sad news.

RIP Dan Wheldon.

That is very very Sad.... I'm a HUGE Indy Car/ CART fan and it's so sad he was killed. This is the 2nd time in 11 years that a great young driver has died in the season finally. In 1999 Greg Moore died in Fontana.

RIP Danny.... your now with Greg now.

Yes, very sad.

For those who didn't see it and want to see the incident, here's a link to another site that has some video the crash.

That was tough to watch. You keep hoping for some good news and that he would be OK and it never happened. Very sad.

Tears were shed when we heard the news. I don't recall seeing Dan without a smile, he was one of the nicest guys, and will be greatly missed.

Very sad That is just suicide racing. Many inexperienced people. I think open cockpit cars are especially dangerous. Shocked it hasn't happen more often.

That seems to be a common thought about Dan.

This posting from another forum:

"years ago, when I took Miss M (the poster's daughter) to watch the test at Barber, she really wanted to meet Danica, but Danica couldn't be bothered

know who stopped in the parking lot and spent a few minutes talking with an excited little girl? (He posted a picture of a smiling Dan in the paddock with the poster's daughter)

nicest pro driver I ever met
-"

All sports need more people like that.

RIP Dan. Prayers for his family, friends and the racing world. I met him at Milwaukee a few years ago. Very nice and talented driver.

I love this sport so much, but I hate it sometimes too!

I was at The Glen this weekend, playing with a friends vintage racing Corvette. It's something I don't get to do much anymore, and I enjoyed myself more than I have in a long time. Then I get home tonight, only to find the story of Weldon's passing on the news.

It can be a hard hobby/sport to love sometimes. God bless him, and his family
