Default NASA-MA and VIR...

...looks like Wally didn't lose a step with his new setup, he's at 2:01.5xxx for qualifying. Puts him P1 in ST2 and P3 for the start for the race behind a couple of SU cars!

Brian Bowers is a 2:06.6xx. This is Brian's first race!

Go like hell, guys!

Good luck!

Was watching live timing here:
http://www.nasaracing.net/

But it seems to be down.

Mark 2:05 on the first timed session of the day. On scrubs I'd assume.

Yeah Wally's probably taking it easy on that new engine.

Not sure what up with T&S. I was looking forward to see the TTA times from the 2nd session.

Cars been acting a bit weird. Feels like something isnt 100% right. Also has been overheating so i was shifting at 5500 tp 6000 for the two races.

I think i need to get the injectors looked at

Fixed my rev limiter problem today, sad when the most time you have to work on it is at the track.

Rolled off the mid o scales at 3124, took 5 lbs out of the car (mechanical) and put 30 lbs of fuel this am and rolled 3188 here at VIR. Kevin said his read lower than MO. Lol. Go figure

Brian and Wally looked great

Default Coopetition

Good to see Brady, Wally, Brian and the rest. Fun weekend despite 12 hrs in an RV with 3 little ones and 2 blown trailer tires.

C5 Mafia Coopetition was in full force. I was heads or tails on 8:55 or noon as the money TT session, turns out the 8:55 was it, but I did the sticker run at noon. Got everything ready then sitting on grid I realized I had not torqued my lug nuts. Brian's mom brought lunch for everybody and I think I stopped mid job to eat a bite. I am thinking Brian told his mom to do that

I pulled off grid as everybody rolled out and thankfully Brian and his dad jumped into action and got everthing tight before the field came around. However, Felton wanted to hold me till everybody had passed so I went out and tried to gap myself but still caught a few cars on my flyer. I went for a 2nd flyer and caught more traffic (and oil on track in hogpen) so I bagged it. I'll try to get a video up soon. I got a fanny paddling for curb jumping in the esses in the 8:55 session so I had to fly under the radar (no kicking up dust, or even the appearance) so that hurt my speed in the esses as you couldn't really jump the "yump". Pretty confident a clean no mistake lap in the 8:55 session would have been in the 2:02s.

Dunno if we'll ever get down to 2:01 or 2 flat, might have to get Danny to drive it It's hard with no aero, car feels like a 737 wanting to take flight on take off at the top of the esses, you just can't get it to turn the car is so light cresting the top.

That's a tall order, but I'm sure you'll find out some day. Good job this weekend. I knew when I saw that 2:05 lap in the morning session that you were betting on the noon one for the sticker run. After seeing Kevin's time, I knew you chose wrong.
He wast fast.

Congrats to Brian for getting through comp school and his first 3 races (sucks that only 2 counted towards rookie status).

After seeing the ST2 times from this event... I've got to get faster at VIR or I'll be the back marker for those races

Mark,

I want to clarify that comment. Morris or my wife may have misquoted me. I stated that I was very light coming off the track after one of my sessions. Our minimum comp weight is 3118lbs. At just under a 1/4 tank, I was at 3119lbs. Right exactly where David Farmer and I had estimated the setup when we prepped it for Nationals.

I never weighed the car at Nationals with that low of a fuel level, so I don't have an exact comparison. However, the scales at VIR this weekend were dead on with where I thought they should have been. I knew on my cool down lap that I was going to be close with the weight when the fuel gauge finally settled. We did not get impounded that session, but I wanted to know for curiousity sake and it was dead on to my estimates.

Yeah, my 2:05.5 was on the sixth heat cycle of that set of A6s. And the car felt under control the entire session. With how good the car felt, I know on a set of sticker As and more of my normal driving, there is another 1/2 second in my car as it sits. MAYBE even a very high 2:04.9. With the warning of no curb jumping this weekend, I drove much "tighter" than normal. There are definitely several curbs that I was taught to straddle by the professionals and that is no longer acceptable by VIR nor NASA.

In the last session of the day, I put the Rs back on and went and had fun. So much fun, that the guy working Oak Tree recognized me at Millie's last night and stopped me to say, "Thanks for the show!" Nothing like a second gear pull out of Oak Tree on worn out tires.

When did this start and why? Having lost two windshields to the rock gods of VIR I may see why but the curbs are part of the track! Is it only NASA?
