Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, and I don't even have a Corvette yet.
I would like to try autocross or limited track time once I get my car, but since it's going to be a driver/pleasure 'toy', I don't want to do any major modifications. Are there events/experiences like this for 'occasional' competitors?
Thanks!!

You don't need any major modifications to do either occasionally

The Z06 Corvette is comfortable as a dailey driver, and quicker than anything but a GoKart on the track.....BONE stock

I'm hoping I can find a C5 with selective ride or magride. I don't know what comes with what yet.

In a C5 you would want a Z51 suspension rather than the magride. Z51 isn't so stiff that it jars you but much better on track or for autocross. I'm still using my 2002 with 103k and it's been tracked heavily but cruises down the highway just fine (32 mpg too)

Since I just got out of instructing a student in a 2009 Z06 and I have instructed several students in c5z06 and c6z06 I have to agree with that statement. My student at Road Atlanta was consistently in the 1:50's (HPDE1) and his son was in the upper 1:40's (HPDE2). This is with street tires and stock brake pads. They had another instructor drive the car one session and he was consistently in the mid-1:30's without ever driving one before!.

It is probably the best bang for the buck, out of the factory car out there. I bet Mark or Scott driving the c6z06 with track tires and brake pads they would have killed AR's times this weekend.

I'd love to try someday.
