Track day clean up
Had a great time at the ECS track day yesterday....now, the clean up
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to remove the black marks from the flying rubber? As well as products that will help remove the brake dust without messing up my polished rims??
Thanks

Purple power works good. Someone in this section of the forum told me about it so I gave it a try. Spray on and the rubber comes right off (I am sure the wax does too).

I use the Eagle 1 or Armorall wheel cleaner. They seem to do pretty good. For the black marks, I use Zymol or Mequiars paint cleaner with a yellow pad from my porter cable kit applied by hand. If really bad, I will hit it with pc. Anything less, is a lot of elbow grease. I even tried putting a coat of wax on skirts to make easier to clean, but I gues the tire turds are so hot, it melts right thru wax. However, waxing rims did seem to help some, but I have track wheels now, so no problem. Good luck with it.

I'm able to get the majority of them off using a polishing pad and Zaino AIO. The AIO has a very mild abrasive (basically a cleaner wax) and does a good job. Anything beyond that requires stuff like the power purple, etc already mentioned. The real key for getting that stuff off is to have a good layer of wax on the car before you go to the track so it's on the wax and not the paint!

Matt sorry I didnt show this yesterday, I use this at the end of every track day, it is amazing.
My car will somtimes sit for a couple weeks after a track day and the longer it sits the harder it is to clean.
Trust me if you spend 10minutes after an event it will save you hours of cleanup. This product really is amazing, AU N EGL told me about this product years ago.

It works for cleaning anything!
To prevent brake dust from sticking I have had good luck with Armor All wheel protectant. I use it on my street wheels so the dust doesnt stick to them, but I tried on a track wheel once and it was so much easier to clean after.

With a black car, it's not a real consideration. After so many track days, the hood and quarters look like the surface of the moon from all the rock and gravel nicks and dings. Guess it's time to paint on some stripes or contrasting colors ---- Got a marvelous windshield star this last weekend, unfortunately it's directly in the line of vision.

Stoner tar remover is good on the rubber marks, of course re-wax it after.
Back in the drag racing days, WD40 was about the best at getting the caked up track junk off behind the rear tires. The paint on my '68 is 16 years old and still looks great so it sure didn't hurt it.

One of the reasons I got the plastic wrap just after I bought it. Don't have to worry about the paint. I use Simple Green for wheel rubber.
