Default Called LG today

After reading so many threads that my head was spinning worse than the Bitch at Hallett, I ordered the G-Stop SL6 kit. Thanks to all the members out there that posted detailed, concrete experiences with their brake setups. I think this is really the best route for what I do with the car, and keeping the CFO happy (or at least tolerant) at the same time.

Great kit! Did you get thermolock pistons?

Not yet, I'll be adding them later.
Budget is tight right now.

Still great setup. I like WW H pads.

I did order H pads. good reviews on them for what it is.
Not a BBK but I think for an occasional weekend warrior this will work well.

You are going to like the kit - probably the best bang for the buck out there. I have run mine for 2 years now and am very satisfied.

I got a call today from LG. They are shipping my brakes today.
Question I have is how long did it take you guys to install them?
I'm using my stock rotors. I'm toying with the idea of installing them tomorrow night when I get to the track. Any gotchas I should know about?

crazy idea, should I wait till next week?

TIA,

John

Just make sure you carry a 12 point 7/16 deep well socket or you'll be putting your stock stuff back on.

I know you are dying to try them but rushes like that are rarely fun. I would wait and do them in a leisurely pace. No hard but you want to do it right and make should everything is aligned and tested.

No gotchas. Just take lots of brake fluid since when you do the install they'll be dry... and, yeah, make sure you have all the new sized sockets you'll need to work on them...

Based on John's recommendation I purchased the SL6's for the front and the SL4's for the rear.

These are an awesome brake setup and work very well during all of my racing this year. Use good pads and regularly bleed them and you WILL NOT be dissappointed.

BTW, with the correct tools, the install is actually quite easy.

Thanks for the advice! I'm about to install a BBK as well. Do you mind telling me what part of the install that socket is needed for?

Since you didn't get the T2 pistons I would recommend buying 4 of the titanium heat shields.
This place has the best price I have found. Most places get $100 for a set (4), these are $11.99ea.

I run these and the T2 pistons so when you upgrade the pistons you will be in really good shape. I've never had brake problems.

great price

looks like the backing plate for the old 7320 pad style (small bridge bolt hole) do you have to grind the ear off the top for the larger dia spacer used on the SL6/SL4?

Do these calipers work with 17" CCW classic wheels (T1) wheels?

Yes. I think some people run a 1/4" spacer but I'm not sure it's needed.
These calipers have the narrowed front half. I run the full size ones but I hear you you need a 3/8" spacer for those.
The full size fit under z06 wheels with a 1/8" spacer and these don't need a spacer.

Well my last question was academic as the shipment was not noted to hold for pickup as I asked it to be, so it will get to my house long after I've left town.
