c6 Z06 and regular C6 engine cradle difference
What's the difference in the Z06 cradle and the C6 cradle other than the material?
Is the alum. C6 cradle stronger than the magnesium?
I have had a few wrecked 06 up Z06's and when these cars get hit, some not very hard... it smokes the engine cradles. I'm not talking about breaking a tab, but breaking it on all four corners.
The aluminum cradles have to be stronger, would they bolt up and work in a Z06?

I think the control arm bolts are different......would still bolt up but you'd need to use the Z06 bolts. I thought they made the control arm mounting surfaces larger to protect the magnesium

You're not hearing me David. . I just did the swap and it all bolts up the same and aligns the same. Where the control arms mount there is no difference. All the other places on the Z cradle have aluminum like washers glued to the cradle to keep from crushing the magnesium when torqued.

I hear you....the Pfadt camber kit is different that the kit for non-Z06 cars, so I assumed the mounting points were different. I'm glad it's working for you.

May look the same but very different, special made hardware
to prevent corrosion, magnesium is very bad for corrosion....
if you look in the front bushings there are little aluminum sleeves in the
steel sleeves to prevent the bolts from having contact with the steel.
Those special shims are aluminum which is less corrosive then if
they just used steel on mag....
Ive got one for the car I'm building but now Id wish i just got
a standard aluminum crossmember so not to worry about it...
old thread ....duh :-)
