Default Any way to reduce the power steering assist?

I would like to make the power steering on my '99 a little stiffer. Is there any way tho reduce the assist?

Thanks!

The area I'd truly like less assist is in the brakes.

As speed increases the EBCM sends a signal to the rack that increases the steering force required. If that signal isn't working properly the rack may not be increasing the steering force enough. If the signal isn't working the EBCM sets a code (C1241) but that code doesn't turn on any lights on the dash. Any failure in the Magnasteer system will cause the steering assist to default to maximum assist.

yes, I'd trade a little brake assist for a little more assist in the steering

Bill is correct, there is a fairly lengthy description of the power assist operation in the factory service manual. I recommend buying the FSM and reading this text if you seriously want to pursue changing the standard rack setup.

The rack itself varies assist based on input current into the rack, so a creative individual should be able to design a circuit to enable a driver-adjustable assist.
