The Speedsouth/Active Power Racing Team enjoyed their most successful weekend of racing yet, taking two overall wins and one class win. David Leonard led the PBOC field to the checkered flag in the Saturday sprint, as well as Sunday's second sprint, which he led wire to wire. Tom Leonard took first in the R2 class on Sunday morning, improving some 15 positions during the race and passing the class leader on the final lap.
After a broken brake line at 130mph heading into turn 6 on Friday led to an exciting off and early retirement from the enduro, the team repaired the car and was back on track Saturday morning, when David clipped a couple of 1:27.xx laps, giving a hint of what the #9 Corvette may be capable of when fully developed.

Yes, it flexes quite a bit. When this one is toast (and it won't be long with the sandblasting it gets) we're going back with stock glass. The lexan is just not worth the effort for a 10# savings. We'll save alot more by going to a carbon deck lid.

Tom/David....
good seeing you guys this weekend. Nice to see the car running with no problems. It looks and sounds GREAT!!!!
Tom.....I want to commend you on your self control. I beleive it was a wise move not going over and "discussing" the blocking that was done to you.
David....awesome race sunday afternoon. The car was flying.
Hopefully we'll have the oppurtunity to race the #38 and #9 this year.

Wow, nice save. I totalled my car there a year ago in the wet and somebody suggested that maybe I could have spun it to not hit the wall. I've been thinking for a year, how could I have the ***** to do that? Well there you have it

Sorry to hear that. I have been preparing for that moment for a couple of years. I was watching the 12 hours of Sebring and a car had a rotor failure going into 17 and the driver spun the car to scrub speed. Since then, part of my preparation to drive each venue is to consider my options and actions in the event of a failure in any given turn.
