Default C5 Rear Wheel Bearing Options

Ok - I've narrowed down the source of a rumbling noise at highway speeds to the right rear wheel bearing. The sound goes away on right hand sweepers and the right rear wheel has some slack.

I plan to use my 99 FRC as a HPDE car and weekend toy.

I've done quite a bit of research regarding the options for replacement and have identified the following brands:

SKF -- 2 versions (race and OEM)
Timken -- Sold under several brands (Autozone for one)
GM Race Hub -- Made by Timken also
National -- Don't know much about this one
Raybestos -- The rear hub lists on Rockauto for less than $100

Observations -- I've decided to not go with the SKF race versions. At approx. $380/wheel - it's just too expensive for my needs. Then there is the SKF OEM hub (approx. $212 at Rockauto) and the Timken hub (approx. $143 at RA). What's interesting is that the Timken, Raybestos and National hubs (front and rear) all have part numbers that are either exactly the same or off by only first digit. It looks like the Raybestos hub may be the exact same as the Timken - only for $40+ less!

To further muddy the picture - I found some GM Race hubs made by Timken for $200 each. I wasn't able to find much info on these - other than a brief mention in a LG build from 2008. Are these between the OEM replacements and the SKF race versions in terms of strength?

I just wanted to check to see if anyone had any suggestions for replacement. I plan to replace both rear hubs at the same time. If the GM race versions are a significant step up from the OEM - I'll go that route. Thanks for any assistance!

From what I understand: there's SKF, and everything else is Timken.

I've always purchased Timken's from Auto Zone... but nice find on the Raybestos.

Timken is fine for your use.

I think there are 2 ways to go, buy the cheapest you find with a life warranty & get good at changeouts

or SKF regular grade.

You really don't need the race grade IMO.
