Default Help...Coil Overs, Shocks or what?

I currently have a 2003 ZO6 that I have lowered; removed front bolts and longer bolts in the back. Probably close to a 1.5 inch drop all around.

I am looking for better handling. I do not autocross or road race. I do like to do some spirited driving, love roads through the mountains, like tail of the dragon and things like that.

Question is, what would you do? I am very interested in hearing from you guys. My car has 43K on it with about 1K on the lowered setup. Shocks and springs are stock ZO6.

Thanks,

Micah

The curent amount you are lowered wll actually degrade handling (from stock form) with the combination of stock shocks. Even lowering all the way on the stock bolts isnt optimal. I think coilovers are overkill on the street, and are not needed. I would strongly consider putting stock bolts back in, getting good shocks, an aggressive alignment, and some good tires. The stock c5z is very fast with a set of good tires. Do not underestimate the importance of a good alignment and tires.

For shocks:
Consider bilstein sports
Konis are more expensive but gives you the adjustability
Another option would be bilsteins valved by DRM or another vendor

Thanks for the post.

Anyone else?

I guess I will start looking for the front bolts and go back up to at least stock bolts and lower it down from there.

I just got a nice alignment too.

Go back to ride height that equals stock, but lowered with stock adjusters. C6 Z06 shocks. Tires will be the best mod out of all. Toyo R888, RA1, Nitto NT-01 or NT555Rll. These are semi race tires that you can drive on the street. If you want to spend more money on suspension, then I would buy LG coilovers. Keep in mind, I'm only about 1.5 seconds faster then a stock Z06 on a 60 second autocross course. With me driving both cars. My car is very modified.

Decided to just get the coil overs. Purchased a set of these:

LG Motorsports GT2 Adjustable Coilovers

Overkill? Maybe. Do they give me better handling and flexibility? Yes.

Good choice. Not overkill at all. You'll save about 12lbs. too.

I didn' tell momma I was using the credit card.

I have the BFG KDWs right now with about 80% thread life left, so I am going to wear these down first.

Looking forward to the improved handling. Going to set it up so it sits about the same as if I lowered it on stock bolts.

Anyone have instructions on the best way to set these up once they are on? Align if you will?

GM runs the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires on the ZR1. Special compound for these tires, not the run of the mill PS2 compound.
