Default Anyone put on an aluminum flywheel to a C6Z yet?

I had one on my C5Z and it was one of the best mods money could buy for track duty. The motor rev'd SO freely and would match downshifts with a simple blip. This is the mod I miss the most from my C5Z.

The one thing I have disliked about my C6Z has been the shifter and the heaviness and the fact that I have to really jab the throttle to match rev's on downshifts.

The aluminum flywheel made road racing a joy with my C5Z and for the past 3 years have just been putting up with the LS7 heavier clutch and flywheel.

Anyone put an aluminum flywheel on a C6Z? Has it made a big difference? The LS6 seem to rev much faster in general (obviously due to displacement and piston size), but has the aluminum flywheel helped at all?

I've contemplated doing a 5.5" quartermaster....not sure about the balance though. Is the LS7 neutrally balanced, or at least balanced the same as the other LS engines???

Anyone with the Katech LS9X setup has an aluminum flywheel.

It makes *some* difference but it's not going to rev up and down like an F1 motor It is an improvment, though.

I would guess it helps more on a LS6 motor because it has less torque than a LS7?

I have this clutch setup on my C6 and agree with the above poster. It made a difference, but not a massive one. I probably could have passed the blind-taste test of noticing that it was there or not, but it wouldn't have been a wow! response.

The clutch itself is awesome, but that's a digression...

Maybe. I'd be guessing, though. Since the weight difference isn't *that* much, my guess would be that it would be hard to notice the diff (LS2 v LS7.)

I did notice a dramatic difference on the LS6.

I agree revving the engine on the C6Z isn't the same as on the C5. Not sure what it is but I do notice it is more difficult to rev match. Maybe because the car is quieter than the C5?? I have an 08 and haven't had any issues downshifting the transmission but I didn't really have any issues with my 97 or 03 either. The 08 is easier to shift and I can usually do all of my shifting with the heel of my hand or two or three fingers and a very slight arm movement.
