Get the ATE clear, the blue stains all the plastic parts.

Considering I usually end up braking (no pun intended) a line loose for one reason or the other, I forgo the most expensive and now just use the ATE 200. So no matter if I need to bleed the lines regularly, it is cheap enough. Works great for me.

I usually buy the Motul RBF600 by the case every couple of years -- bleeding the brakes is just a habit, makes me feel good knowing it's fresh fluid.

Look at the boiling points, that is important for the track. For the price, Motul RBF600 has higher boiling points then the SuperBlue

I ran the ATE Super Blue fluid in my C5. It worked great but it does stain the brake fluid reservoir as mentioned above. You also have to always explain to the tech inspectors why your fluid looks dark. I run the Motul RBF600 fluid in my C6 and it also works great and doesn't have any of the drawbacks of the Super Blue fluid.

I have run the ATE Blue for the last 4 years without a problem. I have cooling ducts and have never boiled the fluid at a track day. For street and HPDE use, the ATE would be my recommendation based on performance and cost. I am paying about $10 a quart for the ATE and the Motul is a LOT more expensive. If you were running wheel to wheel, then I would recommend the extra temp protection of the Motul.

I haven't seen this yet after 2 years of using ATE Super Blue in my 87. ATE TYP200 is a gold color and has exactly the same properties as Super Blue. If you swap between the two fluids when doing a flush, the staining should never appear.

ATE is a good street/auto-x/track day fluid and is relatively inexpensive and still comes in metal cans with a top that seals very well.

There are a number of online sources for ATE fluid. Do a Google search on "ATE Brake Fluid"
http://www.apexperformance.net/cartg...t.asp?scat=397
http://www.raceshopper.com/ate_brake_fluid.shtml ($12!!)

If there is a CarQuest auto parts store near you, they can get it. 23 stores in a 100 mile radius of Atlanta. Go here and enter your ZIP code and select the Distance value.

I use the ATE-200 (clear version) in my son's Spec Miata and I am going to probably use the same in the Vette. It will be easier and cheaper to run the same in both cars. Since I am a newbie at HPDE I am sure it will be just fine.

always use the wet boiling point number (the lower one)

nothing beats Castrol SRF

If you run your car hard at the track then you will need a high temp fluid...not sure it matters if your not scrubbing off 100 to 70 mph to turn right and left...rinse and repeat for4 20 minutes.

That said, I've used both Motul and ATE (Blue and Amber) and they do the job very well. (I like to alternate the Blue to make bleeding easier)

I'm all for saving $ but the diff between $10, $12, $14 for brake fluid when your spending $1600 on tires, $600 on pads, $150 fuel, $300 on tow fuel, etc., is...well you get the point.

As stated above Castrol SRF is simply the best.

Do 6 track events and your bleeding 6 times with a $12 bottle. Do the same events with CRF and you only do it once.
