Default Frank Gonzalez NCM Bench Fund Update

Dear Forum Members,

As you are aware, we met our goal in terms of raising funds back in the middle of April. The interim time has been spent designing, editing and refining the bench scheme. We have accomplished this task.

The next step requires the engraver to transfer the final layout onto software which will be used to start the artwork engraving. We do not anticipate any delay in approving this part of the process.

I will inform everyone with the planned unveiling date in the near short term.

A special thank you once again to all those who participated in helping us remember Frank Gonzalez. It wasn't the same not chasing him around VIR this year, but I know he watched us with his eternal smile.

I remember when we used to do this by hand (family business), no software involved.
So is it a granite bench? I can't wait to make the trip; I've never been to the museum, now I have two reasons to go.

Thanks, Mike. The design is very nice. I think everyone will be pleased to see Frank remembered with the bench at the museum.

Mike has coordinated the bench design with the artist, Frank's family and I. It has been very inspiring to see all of the support from so many of Frank's friends to make this happen. It means a lot to his wife and son.

I hope we can have a big group help us dedicate it at the unveiling. We hope to do the unveiling in September while the weather is still good.

Can you be mindful of the Run Offs schedule? I would love to attend (would a Viper driver be welcome?), but the Run Offs is big for me. I do understand I am only one person, however, so don't make special arrangements for me.

David,

Thank you for the foresight on scheduling dates as not only you, but many other of Frank's friends may have scheduling conflicts.

Mike and Steve,
Lots of the racing/HPDE community wanted to do something but it took you guys to mobilize and focus on a specific goal. The bench is a shared experience and I plan on being in BG for the unveiling. Thanks to all who made this possible. Thanks to Frank for, well, being Frank!

Unfortunately Val & I didn't get the chance to experience VIR with him but we were very much looking forward to it. I do know that he was jazzed that there would be 6 of us from our club running at VIR this year, something along the lines of "FINALLY some folks that aren't just a bunch of waxers."

Thanks for the update Mike, I hope we're able to make it as well.
