Default Kit car for Indy

So why did you have all of those manufacturers waste the time and money building a concept chassis?

It looks like the Indy sanctioning body is going to turn itself into another kit car series like CRAPCAR. I guess we can tell these teams apart by their decals. They have now officially lost me as a spectator. I really wish that they would go back to the days of a loose set of rules and the "run what you brung" philosophy. It costs $ to race - if you can't afford it go home.

Do most people really care about the tech of the cars after a certain point? Doubt it. 1350lb cars, 700-800hp, good enough for me. I couldn't care less about wide open or spec cars, what I really care about it a decent race. Spec cars help a bit with that, and I'd rather watch 25 spec cars vs a $$ limited field of 15 cars with 5 diff chassis.

Before everyone gets all bent out of shape take a deep breath here. This could be good. Even Robin Miller is positive on this move. He's usually the huge dark cloud of Indy car racing.

The interesting thing is that a major factor in the Dallara proposal was that it put jobs in Indy. In return the state of Indiana will help pay for your car. When was the last time you got a subsidy from the state to go racing?

Let's not get all gloomy about this. It's progress. I would have liked (and I was hoping) to have seen a Lola on the grid in 2012. Now I'll only get to see Lola bodywork. That's not all bad though.

We had that. What happened is no one could afford it.
