Default Yaw sensor

If you unplug (remove) the yaw sensor in the passenger floorboard, you will get a "Service Active handling" message when you start the car. So does that mean AH/TC is disabled and I don't have to worry about remembering to turn it off every time I shut the car off in grid?

Damn, I suck without ABS. There are black marks down the NSS backstretch to prove it.

Under the carpet, near the tunnel.

He is talking about a C5. On the C6 the lateral G sensor and the yaw sensor are both located in the center stack near the radio.

The C5 has the yaw sensor in the center stack and the lateral G sensor under the passenger seat. Disconnecting the lateral G sensor should kill the Traction Control and Active Handling without affecting the ABS. It isn't needed for the ABS function.

I agree with Bill, I wouldn't expect it to kill ABS, although you should test it before turn 1 at your next event!

Learn something everyday. I guess I was basing my assumption from previous experience of having the EBCM going out where everything was kaput.

Since I am helping (or trying to, lol) ken with his car with this exact problem (lat sensor codes), I just tested it. The ABS does in fact work, as does the TC. All this with a service active handling MIL and auto shut off of the AH. I suppose it just ignores any AH/car attitude inputs, but keeps the TC and ABS in check.

good to know

Jason, keep me updated on the sensor. I like that idea of default to nothing except ABS!

I read through this quickly. Are y'all saying the sensor is under the pass side BCM panel area?

Nope.....On a C5 the yaw sensor is under the carpet under the passenger seat. When you take the seat out there is a bump near the tunnel and towards the front of the seat.
The other sensor is behind the HVAC controls on the drivers side mounted with 3 bolts at the back/bottom of the aluminum framework which holds the radio and HVAC controls.

Yaw sensor is below the radio/hvac control head- the lateral g sensor is under the passenger seat, its actually bolted to a bracket that is glued to the floor pan from the factory
The yaw sensor is not under the passenger seat.....

it would kick on during a straight line accel, but I'm (assuming) that it wouldn't kick in an AH situation. I didn't fling it around to find out

I'm having a hard time picturing either one of these. My car is gutted and I don't see anything like this. Anyone got any pics?
BTW - mine is a '99 so I don't have AH, but I do have TC.

lat g is just under the left rail of the pass. set mount, about 6" from the left-side seat stud in the front. It's location reqs some custom work in fab'ing up a racing seat mount (simple straight mount will not work).
