Default Watkins Glen Rolex Corvette in car Video LG Motorsports

Hi guys,

This is a really good video. If you have ever driven the Glen, you will be impressed with Eric Lux's driving. He qualified 3rd and jumped into second for his full stint.

A GM Stock power steering rack failed and that ended our day at the glen.

If you have been following this season, the next race was Mid Ohio, where the BMW spun him and the Mazda "T boned" us putting us out. And at Daytona, we led solidly for almost a full stint but went from 3rd to 13th on a pit stop (not the crews fault). Could only recover to 11th at Daytona.

Enjoy the video.

Thanks for posting, I think I see a somewhat new way to exit t5. If you're not too busy this Friday, come over to the lightning course at NJMP and give me some pointers

Great stuff. Lux has quiet hands. Car a bit of a handful out of the apex.
My TTS Corvette has a lot less power to handle.

The engine is an LS6 almost stock with headers and a blueprint. Comes in about 450 hp.

The Rolex GT class is a really hard fought class. About 1.5 seconds from first to last in qual.

To compete at this level takes driving the car on the edge of traction as often as possible, just within the limits of the tires, while not over using them.

Lap times at the Glen in qualifying were 1:51.xx and that is fast.

Yes, Lux is driving well for sure.

Awesome video Lou! The Glen is on my list of tracks to try for sure.

I have been watching you guys and I think everyone in the GT field knows to look out for that car. If it werent for your string of bad luck the LG Corvette would be fighting for a podium every time!

that video really shows what the long course is all about. Eric is a very good racer with your vet. You received a lot more coverage this last race so Speed finally is giving you some coverage which we all appreciate.

Well Lou, I have 376 RWHP out of a stock LS6 and us NASA TT guys run faster many times than the race guys. Yes, we run on the edge too. PIR 1:08.9 when the car was street driven. Maybe I need one of your "stock" motors, teehee.

I wish you and your team the best and one of your biggest fans! Now making my C5R and your parts will be in it!

Nice vid I see a lot of windshield area protection. Is that more than you usually ran?

Keep in mind a few points when considering the Grand Am GT spec:

Fuel is Sunoco 260 GTX (98 octane)

Gearbox is the Emco 6-speed sequential, which is probably around 5% less loss (more efficient) than a standard box (+20rwhp)

Emco 6-speed box has very small drops, and keeps the motor near peak torque much better than stock box

Ram air intake setup drops IATs by 10+F at speed

Optimized headers / muffler setup for a stock displacement and intake

300 profile rear tire without traction control

With these things in mind its not hard to understand why this car may be a handful coming out of the corners, even with a near-stock motor

Rules.

Must have 3 windshield braces equally spaced.

Must have roll cage connection from top halo down to the dash bar to stop any large parts (tires etc) to enter into the cockpit. This is called an "Earnhardt Bar" because they started requiring it in Nascar after a wheel entered Dale's car but missed him.

We put that bar in no matter what because it is a good bar to have.

Thank you, great answer to my question. I use a Vararam on mine, but the dyno doesn't pick it up.

Those LG headers are better than my Kooks too.

Lou, nice meeting you today. See how cool us NJ people are. Thanks for showing us around the car, and the invite for Sunday. I know you'll be busy, but I'll see what I can do about the tires. Thanks again.

Thanks to you. It is always nice to put the faces with the names on the forum. Thanks a gain for stopping by.

Lap times at the glen, were 1:51.7 in qualifying trim and 1:53.xx during the race with full fuel.

2:12 IS fast in a Stock Z06!

we go back to the short course at the Glen on Aug 7th.

See you there
