Default Comparison article Vettes and SOWillow

Came across this and since I haven't been to Streets of W. myself
don't know how the times came out compared to what SV or
other groups run there.

Hope the long link works, it's from Edmunds

Here is a video of an old personal best running in the opposite direction of the magazine test and the opposite direction of my personal best earlier this year where I recorded the 1:18.616.

My 1:18 was done on fresh tires and this video is on a set of clapped out tires. I am sorry about the annoying strap and the lighting is not the best as this was done late in the day.

I have driven the new cars with the new steering rack. It is so much of an improvement over the stock C5 steering rack. I wish we could run with them....

Nope. The link isn't working, but it isn't because it's too long. I tried shortening it to just "http://www.insideline.com", and even that fails. I think their website is down.

Then a few minutes later, it's working! Go figure...

I have no doubt the new Corvettes are better than the old Corvettes, the truth is most of us can't come close to affording a new one we might wreck racing. Having said that it doesn't cost that much to make a C5 a real runner, and the comments the driver keeps making about the tires is a hint. The straightline speed (Drag) tells you the car is capbable, it matches the GS. We don't know what they have or have not done to the suspension, but some coil overs and new tires say Kumho XS and the car would have behaved a lot better, for a lot less.

I would much rather have a C6 over a C5 just on looks, not to mention performance. However truth be told, I like my 90 C4 every bit as much. If I want to I can make it go faster and with 315's she handles pretty well, but between the 2002 C5 and 2011 C6 one would expect evolution to make the new $80k+ car better.
