that must have been a helluva ride for Webber -- have to feel for him -- charging into that corner expecting to blow right by Heikki , then Kov. dodges first in then out -- no way to brake enough to miss him at that point. That mid-air upside down camera shot was amazing.

not F1 but Red Bull Air Race event! don't you know that Red Bull gives You wings?

....seriously - it is told that the Lotus monoposts - who are new to F1 series - really have to brake looooooong before other cars, and Webber didn't get this fact.
I'm glad than nobody was injured

I watched a slow motion replay and it sure looked to me like Webber got brake checked. I see Heiki's front wing dip and then rise back up right before the crash. I can't tell if it's from a bump or from hitting the brakes.

Nothing new. Here's footage from the 1992 F1 race in Portugal. Ricardo Patrese (Wiliams) runs up the butt of Gerhard Berger (Ferrari) and goes flying.

A nice shot of the old ground effects sliding skirts, too.

One of the first things taught in driver's school is to "Hold your line" because "It is the overtaking driver's responsibility to make a clean pass". Kovalainen is a very experienced, FIA Superlicensed driver, and therefore should have known that. No driver should EVER weave back and forth 3 times in front of an overtaking driver. That said, I do greatly appreciate that Webber was uninjured.....altho he probbably ruined his fireproof underwear

The F1 site said..."While Kovalainen maintained the Red Bull had simply run into him, Webber questioned whether the Finn could have done more to avoid the clash, suggesting the Lotus driver braked for the corner 80m sooner than he himself had done on the previous lap."

Under the circumstances I'm not surprised Webber would say this. In more ways than one...that's racing.

The responsibility to make a safe pass is the overtaking driver....the overtaken is supposed to be predictable.

Until the Lotus cars get sorted out they are moving Chicanes - Weber knows that.

That reminded me of the champ car crash at Toronto in '96 where jeff krosnoff was killed. I am _NOT_ posting the vid to that.
