6'3" ?
I have a friend who wants a C6 vette so much so that he went to test drive the car. After the test drive, he stated that he wanted the car but only if the seat could be mounted back about about 4 inches. I thought that there was only about 3 inches avaliable. So how far back can you mount the seat safely? TIA

Melting Slicks
I'm 6'3 180lbs, and in my C5 I have plenty of leg room; head/helmet room is very close, but leg room I'm good on. That's with a cage and everything. I wonder what the difference would be between the C5/6 in that respect? It's been so long since I've even sat in a C6..can't remember

The C6 is much more cramped than the C5, both the underside of the dash, and the head room (at least in the C6Z06).
This is what we did in our C6Z06....my co-driver is about your friends height.
1. we remove the center bolster. Required removing the seat once, to disconnect the seat heater connection, then you just unclip the center section when at the track. Allows the side bolster to give more support also.
2. removed the headliner. This might be Z06 only, but it "swoops" down several inches, right over the drivers' head, and removing it gives extra head room. Since ours is 90% track car, aesthetics don't matter.
The OEM seat is pretty much against the rear bulkhead when all the way back, so relocating isn't really an option. You could go to an aluminum, fixed seat, but this isn't very practical for a street car.

I'm 6'3" and I rode in an instructors C6. With my helmet on I could not sit fully straight. I needed about 1/2" of extra room by my estimation. I really liked the car but having my head tipped sideways wasn't fun.

like I said, the seat is already against the bulkhead, so there is nowhere to move it. Removing the center bolster gives you and extra inch or so, as your rear can sit deeper into the seatback.

And I thought people were only 6'3'' on the internet! Seriously, I have a colleague that is 6'4'' and his knees are all bowed up in the passenger seat of my 08 z06.

I recommend an after market low profile seat track if you want to use the OEM seats, BUT you will lose all your power options and will need a seat simulator plug to make the car think the power seat is still there. You will be fine without a helmet at 6'3 but honestly with teh helmet it would be rough. At 6'2 with a caravaggio on stock rails I need to remove all padding and still barely fit in my FRC with helmet

Room
I let a co-worker, 6'3", drive my 03 Z06 and his remarks are the same as everybody above. He also told me that his test drive in a C6 was cramped. In my auto X 03 Z06, I installed an 02 headliner that does not drop down at the back and gave me more room. I also switched the seat tracks so the manual track is on the driver side and cut the raised portion at the rear of the track and bolted it straight though the track.

I'm 6'4" ... about 318 lbs ... hopefully will be sub 300 in another month!
plenty of head room in my '05 Vert with the top down ... and it's still fine with the top up!
my '07 Z06 is fine, except when I'm on the track with my helmet on ... had my roof liner removed, which bought me an inch ... and it's now livable on the track ... I find I slide the seat forward a bit for proper hand / arm placement, which also buys me a bit of headroom, due to the roof line.
