A netbook with an integrated Verizon card is a wonderful thing.
...so is a son who just got his learners permit on Friday. He now has more1000 miles and 14 hours driving a 45 foot truck and trailer vs. 45 minutes on Friday in his mom's Suburban.
Not too many kids start out with interstate driving a 18,000 lbs rig up and over the Rocky Mountains.

I spent time backing up trailers and moving race cars around before I had my temps. I think I got all my "hours" in within the first month of having my temps.

Holy cow Christjian (did I spell that right?) has a freaking permit? I feel old now.
I learned to drive in a 4wd on jeep trails, followed by LA freeways.
My boy (just turned 1) is going to learn to drive the lawn mower, tractors, and gokarts. All before hes anywhere near having a permit. Living in the country is awesome.

One of these even being a Porsche 917 when I was around 8 years old Talk about 1 mother who was scared for her families monetary safety if her son scratched/messed up a car being behind the wheel

They used to always have me crawl into the trailers and cars as a steerer and braker for pulling the cars out of the rigs

the 15 years old is a newer rule, I think 1 or 2 years old now. A couple of "kids" have already taken advantage of it and one with the last name: Rayhall is doing quite well out of the gates
(only fitting with his last name, minus the spelling )

Ya, my sister and I were track brats :o Funny part is, when we were younger she was the one that was really into it, but as we got older she got married and has kids, and I started racing with my dad my last year of college and still am. I guess it worked out better for me!

I was 15 only 7 years ago but I guess I missed the boat anyway. It cool that they let them start that young. They are allowed into the regular T1 class or is there a class for younger ones until they learn a bit?

Nice! That's 10 years ago for me!
Yes, as far as I know they are allowed to get a competition license the same as everyone else to compete in any/all classes. But maybe that's Regionals only? I don't know, haven't looked into it much. In this months Sports Car mag there's an article about it but I only skimmed over it yesterday
