any idea what chassis Emery is running and if there are any modifications besides aero and GT-1 wheel/tire package to make it competitive in that class? I'd bet those two are enough to place it a few seconds in front of the other stock cars with similar power.

As one trackside observer recently stated, "there goes my theory that you have to have a zero scrub car."
The body is a widened downforce late model body (FiveStar, I think).
He runs a top shelf 358 inch SB2 small block, I think CRD does his
engines. They are 750 plus hp.
He chooses to run a Jerico 4 speed versus most of the competitions'
5 speed Jerico, Hewland's etc.
Quick Change rear end, Penske shocks etc.
The car runs competitively with the best GT-1 cars in the country.
Most are Riley, Riggins, Weaver, Rocketsports etc Corvette's,
Camaro's, Mustang's and Jags.
I have seen him run 2:03's at Sebring, 1:23 at Road Atlanta
1:07-1:08 at Roebling. He goes all out and is a blast to watch.
The Secret: A super sharp car builder/crew chief in Fred Strube
who does a phenomenal job setting that car up for the various tracks.
AND.........an incredibly TALENTED & BRAVE driver who quickly gets
up to speed on any track. Jeff has driven in Trans Am, ASA DELCO
National tour, AGT (winning in his only appearance), Sunbelt Super Series and others. In a competitive ride, I believe he would perform well against the best in Grand Am or other. Jeff appears to like doing
his own thing though.

That's good to hear. I have been tossing the idea around to run a stock car locally in GT-1. I'd like to know more about the wide body.
The zero scrub/centerlock option on the super high end trans am cars costs almost as much as an entire, well built stock car.

Another good example of short track technology gone wild is
Charles Wicht's ex Kevin Harvick South West tour SNAP ON
Monte Carlo. Harvick drove it one time at the Sonoma SWT race
and won.
Charles purchased it as a roller at a steal, put in a strong 18* SBC
and Jerico 4 speed and started racing with our V8 series. He ran
2:10's at Sebring on 10 inch tires and a blade spoiler, no splitter.
Charles has since added 16 inch rubber and the wing and has now
gone 2:05's at sebring, 1:09 at Roebling, 1:25-26 at Road Atlanta.
It is not as developed as Jeff's but is still super fast
Charles has not widened his body, he just worked with John Purner
at CCW wheels to get the correct offset to tuck them under the body.
The NASCAR Elite series chassis that are all over NC used, are
excellent perimeter road race cars.
A new HOWE road course bare chassis is less than 3000 bucks.
they are very effective and getting very popular in Europe in
series there. Most are using LS2 motors.

I looked up some older photos of the Emery car and it looks as though he just pushed out the front fenders.
If I didn't have so many projects going on right now I would just build one. Those chassis prices are stupid cheap. With the exception of motor, stock car parts are really affordable and the above performance speaks for itself. Almost pulled the trigger on an old southwest tour car last month, but it for the above reasons I chose to pass. It sold the next day.

has been altered and i believe is at max width.
Motors are pretty cheap right now as well. My contact in Charlotte
called they other day and said he had a a really good truck series
SB2 with only 40 laps, no problems noted, complete minus carb.
for 7500. Would be 750 or so hp with a big carb.
There are plenty of good SWT/Elite cars and similar out there cheap.
There are few places to race the perimeter cars anymore except road racing.
