Default Roll call: Barber Motorsports Park June PCA HPDE (19th & 20th)

who's going to this event?

I am. I'm rushing around now buying up everything I need to get the car ready, and I've already put in a bunch of wrench time, with more to come. My car has plenty of 'issues.

Poly bushings, I hope, will cure most of my ills.

I may even camp at the track. Probably will actually.

I signed up but am on the waiting list for Group 1 Novice. I emailed the guy because I am definitely not a novice and should be in at least Group 2 but I think its full as well. Im considering going to NASA at Road Atlanta instead if they keep me in Group 1. I just wanted to experience Barber before I move back to Texas in July.

Yeah, he made me send a full resume of track experience, even though I checked off solo with one of their instructors in a June '08 PCA event, and I've been solo for 8 more days at that track afterward. I couldn't believe when they grouped me novice. After I sent my full credentials, he (Tom Flemming) regrouped me into intermediate with a check ride for solo first thing.

I think they just wanna limit their exposure to a bad track experience/accident.

You will be sorry if you don't get at Barber now while you have the chance. It is amazing.

I got an email back from the registrar. Theres no chance he would put me in DE3 right off and he said that the waiting list is shorter for DE1 which is why hes leaving me there. Ill eat the 50 dollar refund fee and goto the NASA event at Road Atlanta before I do DE1. Im much much faster then DE1 even at a new track so it would just be a parking lot for me all weekend, even if I did get into DE2 by the second day. I understand Barber is a complex track, but I have iRacing on my side to help.

U gonna be driving? I haven't seen you drive in a while, but then again, I haven't been to the track in a while.

I'll be there, '04 C5Z, and I'm camping. I'm running in group 3 too. I plan to be in by 7-8pm friday. I've never ran barbaer, so I'm really looking forward to it.

excellent. Now I will have two other campers that I can hang out with, I hope. I hope the weather is as beautiful this weekend as it is tonight. Couldn't ask for a better evening than tonight.

Worlds, you will like barber a lot. It is a much safer and re-assuring track than most. Lots of runoff area, and somewhat easy to avoid a wall. Just don't lift going into Charlotte's Webb.

I get up in the 115/+ in the 4 main straightaways, and hopefully with my toe issue corrected, I'll be able to maintain a higher speed in the turns now too.

I'll be looking for you. I've done alot of time at Little Talladega, so this should be a big change from that.
