Default Le Mans 2010 - not just another year for Corvette...

This trip to Le Mans, France for the world’s most prestigious 24 hour race in the world this June won't be just another trip. My plan is to take our 1960 Cunningham Corvette #3 back over to Le Mans for its fiftieth anniversary – the vehicle was the first Corvette to ever win its class at Le Mans and held its title for over 40 years! My father dreamed of this effort and I’m going to follow through on his behalf. The original driver, Mr. John Fitch, now 92 years of age is still well and plans on attending the event with us.

This link shares a PDF file of the presentation I conducted last weekend in Bowling Green, KY at the National Corvette Museum that shares information on our effort: 1960 Le Mans Corvette #3 Anniversary Presentation.

This past weekend was a mind blower for me… GM ended up unveiling a 2011 VIN#00001 anniversary #3 Le Mans Corvette (one of one) – this is unheard of as you can imaging. Having GM make a one off car hasn’t happened for quite sometime… Needless to say I was thrilled to see the car last weekend and I wanted to share the enthusiasm with all of you. Check it out by clicking here.

The Corvette Exterior Design Engineer, Kirk Bennion, also handed me a poster this past weekend that really made me smile, see the image below:

LIFE IS GOOD,

Lance

Beyond cool.............to me that history is right there with the winning Cobra coupe in 1965, Vipers in the 90's, and the P&M Corvettes in the recent past...LeMans is the holy grail.

Keepers of the flame ....American sportscar history at it's finest !!!!! Thanks for your effort !!

See you there Lance. It will be awesome to have seen 50th edition and then see the original at Le Mans. Truly an incredible year.

I am a team member on C6R raceteam. We leave June 3rd, arrive the 4th to prepare for race. Not sure when you are arriving but be sure and
stop by the pits and say hello to all of us on team. I will be happy to
show you around and introduce you to members/drivers you do not
allready know. We have good internet in garage and last year I watched
Speed coverage on my home DVR using Slingplayer and was able to
rewind some things to show team. Will try and post some pictures to
Forum too.
Ask for Frank.

Frank-

I'll look you up when I get there. Best of luck to you, your team and of course the cars! We're all cheering for you guys... I'll be sure to stop by when I'm there. I plan on bringing John Fitch along with me, so we can all get our photo together.

Safe travels & see you soon!

Cheers,

Lance

Lance, you are a lucky man to part of preserving such a history with your father and making more history with Mr Fitch at Lemans. Read all 23 pages of your presentation. All I can say is WOW! Every Vette enthusiast should read about this living history.

Lance,

That's an absolutely awesome tribute to your Father and the cars he loved so much. Great job!

Thank you very much for your kind words. It took me a lot of time to prepare that presentation. The most difficult thing was to keep it limited to a 1 hour presentation due to all the history that's been made by this particular car and the people behind it.

Cheers,

Lance
