Default Help my car is too loud

I have buildt my car during the winter to participate in Nordic GT1 series, but also keep it streetable and participate on track days.
I will tell more about the whole project in a thread later.
I used race cats up front, i have dual 4 inch mufflers (16 inch long) in tunnel and Breathless exhaust made for their race diffuser.
And i am too loud

Anyone know of products that could help reduce noise Db level ?

BTW if anyone reads Norwegian they can go and have a sneak peak at
www.vetteracing.no

and our serie web page
www.gtracing.no

Point the exhaust down!!! That will cut out some of the sound.

We have to pass inspection in pit, they measure two feet away in 45 degree angle to exhaust outlet and i have to rev engine to 4500 rpm, max limit is 100 DB.

Mine was 106

Does it really work ?
It was not clear for me, does it install out the tip of exhaust or do i open the pipes and install it inside the pipe ?

if so can i install one in the exhaust tunnel and one right before exhaust pipe ?

the cones can be installed at the outlets of the pipes, or at the collector. I haven't talked to Dynatech myself, but I would think installing them at the collector would deaden the sound more than at the tips....... but that's just a guess

we just played with these on my buddy's 67 camaro which has pipes straight out the tail, even turn-downs were not making it pass... they helped in tail-pipes, but worked better in the collectors.

Noise regulations at tracks, are becoming more and more of a problem especially for NA cars with cams and headers.
I'm really surprised that exhaust manufacturers who make systems for the Z06 have not cottoned on to this and worked up a 'track day' system for the Z06 which is quiet enough to pass a 100db test.
It can be done - you haven the technology!
There is a market waiting for that product.

I have Corsa backboxes/ race cats/X pipe and with Kooks headers and Torquer cam with the 45 deg test at 4500rpm the car makes around 108Db, which is loud but not as loud as some Ferraris! - how do they get away with it!

The way forward is to increase the silencer volume - the Breathless rear cans are probably quite small.

Another way would be to revert to the 'vac operated flap principle' of the standard exhaust and use one of the 'flap control' accessories[Sunset Orange] that will allow you to keep the flaps shut at 4500 rpm for the test

Probably best to talk to the experts and see what they say - here in the UK these people are good

Hey Rune,
I was thinking about B and B exhaust today. They have a smaller center muffler that they use on the Route 66 C6s. They fit up there pretty damn good.

A crossover pipe "H" or "X" can be helpful too, you didn't mention whether you included one.

Good luck,

But they don't sound nice anymore But I can still hear people on the phone after a weekend which is a nice change from my last car or kart.

Trucks and lawm mowers should be quiet, race cars should be loud
